Beautiful hike in the Shenandoah National Park AND on the Appalachian Trail! We did it later in the evening right before the park closed, so it wasn't busy at all. Lots of rocks and roots on the trail kept it fun and engaging, but it wasn't anything extreme. Views at the top are worth every bit of the hike up! It's hard to capture the awe inspiring beauty of nature in a photograph. My photos don't do the place justice, so don't let them alter your decision to go. FYI: There is a fee to enter the Shenandoah National Park. We bought a seasonal pass because we have every intention on returning soon. Check their website for price details. They take credit cards. We took a 1.4m short hike to the summit starting from the Meadow Spring Trail/Marys Rock Trail via AT across Meadow Spring Parking Area on Skyline Drive. The beginning slope was a bit steep but the trails were relatively easy without having to climb over boulders. Just follow the signs and you’ll reach the summit shortly. Once you are on the mountain top, you will overlook the infinite gorgeous views of everything down including the SNP Thornton Gap Entrance.

Read moreIt was beautiful from the summit of Mary's Rock!! My hiking partner and I came upon hiking northbound on the AT and it was everything we expected and more. Plenty of space to sit down and have snack while backpacking or day hiking. It also is an amazing spot to watch the sunset or sunrise for that matter.
