We rented Simple Pleasures Cabin over Easter weekend. The first thing you must know is each cabin says how many it sleeps but that is based on one adult. Each guest after the paying adult is extra for each night of your stay. After we paid the amount (which was not cheap) we received directions to get to the cabin, and how to use everything, and then a laundry list of chores and rules. My favorite rule was do not sleep on any of the comforters on the beds. Why? Are you not washing them? Once we arrived we began to look around. There are two doors in the cabin. The back door leads to a small deck and a path to the BBQ. It was covered in a years worth of leaves making it impossible to see where the steps ended and the path started. My husband and I both fell out back because of this. It was not as comical as it sounds. So we spent the first 20 minutes at the cabin clearing the steps and path. There is a hammock hanging in the trees next to the front porch. Great idea for relaxation, too bad it has a giant hole in it. The fire pit is located right between the driveway and the side of the mountain. Sitting by the fire is good for about 1 or 2 people on a pre built bench. you cannot set up chairs and you must be careful in the dark because everything is on a downhill slope. There was trash left in the kitchen and in the garbage outside from the last guests. All the towels for the cabin were still in the dryer left by the last group who were tasked with washing and drying their towels before checking out. I have stayed at the Crabtree Falls cabins, Skyland lodge, and Big Meadows Lodge, for our annual Easter Spring break trip. All of these cabins and lodges are about the same price and same distance to the National park. Each of these have better amenities, Nicer cabins, and much better customer service. Plus you are not expected to do all the housekeeping for the owner before you leave. I would avoid...
Read moreShenandoah Woods was an amazing venue for our wedding 6-29-16! Jason could not have been easier to work with and the venue is absolutely top notch! My guests were blown away by the beauty that these spaces offer and how perfect it was for a wedding. Somerset cabin for the welcome dinner, the chapel in the woods for the ceremony, the Pavilion for the reception, the picnic area by the pond for a breakfast send off, and the additional cabins available for guests truly offered the perfect experience for our wedding! I was blown away with everything that was included in the wedding package and how much and for how long we had access to it all. I had so many people tell me that the venue could not have been more amazing. The view from the Pavilion doesn't even look real it is so beautiful! There are so many special details like the old truck, the beverage canoe, the fire pit, the brick paver aisle, the pews in the woods, the corn hole boards, etc. that help make the scene without the extra expense, planning, or rentals. It was picture perfect and even though it was insanely perfect weather on our day-it was really nice knowing that if it had rained the Pavilion still offers an outdoor experience that would have been covered. It was insane to think that my rain plan was many people's first choice as ceremony site. That's how awesome and picturesque this place is and how many ceremony site options there are! It really was amazing and we are so thankful to...
Read moreThe experience we had at Shenandoah Woods was so much better than anyone can explain in a few sentences of an online review. We held our wedding there this past August, along with our guests booking out many of the cabins that are located on site as well. The property was gorgeous; the ceremony space and pavilion host a breathtaking view very fitting for such a momentous occasion and of course makes a stunning backdrop for photos. Jason thought of every detail when designing this space from the well-equipped kitchen and bathrooms, the sound and lighting equipment, and the shuttle and golf cart transportation. Everything was so perfect and easy! Jason and his family, the ones who make it all happen, are friendly, helpful, and fun to be around. Jason was very easy to work with and very accommodating of any of our requests or questions throughout the planning process.
The cabins were also amazing; clean & stocked with everything you need and some fabulous extras, like a hot tub and beautiful views of the Shenandoah Valley. It was so fun to have all of our friends and family close by throughout our wedding weekend. We received so many compliments on the location and venue and our guests are still talking about it!
If you want to get married in the woods, this is 100% the spot to do it! Truly stunning and has...
