My family and I stayed at the Casa Suri….for $385 we stayed 1 night in a very cute cabin like home with all appliances and utensils.
The good: my family and I went on a “tour” they really hand you an alpaca that you walk around until you are ready to return it (no longer than 45minutes). There is plenty of photo op opportunities with other animals on the property such as bunnies, chickens, goats, sheep, lamas, and geese. In the morning we were able to feed the alpacas in the front yard which the kids loved.
The bad: There was only one really sweet employee who seemed to love her job! The remaining of the employees seem to just go through the motions. When we got in they were still cleaning the cabin/home we were staying at from the previous occupants so we had to wait. There was no Wifi, it did not work at all and there is no signal. I did mention this to personal (may have been the owner) and they rebooted the internet but still no service. The breakfast was supposed to be at 9AM (this was told to me by the employee who checked my family and I in) and we received it at 10AM with checkout being 11AM…...the breakfast was strawberries, yogurt, croissants, and orange juice…..I had asked for creamer the night before and that morning for coffee but they brought flavored syrup as that’s all they had.
I did come prepared so I brought my own eggs, ham, and coffee. I would say if you stay overnight make sure you bring all your own things and be prepared for no cell service and no wifi. For the area the price is a little steep ($385 for 20 hours) and I expected something different as the pictures on the website were misleading. My family and I did enjoy some quality time playing cards and...
Read moreI am all about service and feeling welcoming when my family and I are staying somewhere away from home and this place failed to meet our expectations. First and foremost, there was an event happening the day of arrival and the gentleman leading traffic didn’t allow me to drive in because parking was full and needed to wait till 10 pm; yet, we were staying in the house and not there for the event. I had to park very far away outside of the area with my luggage. As I’m walking with my belongings, I see cars going inside and I approach the gentleman and said he was following his boss’s orders. I told him he didn’t let me in but other cars were entering. He kept saying he was following his boss’s orders. He was very unprofessional and didn’t care that I was carrying my belongings and walking a good distance to the house. They should have designated parking for guests staying in the homes. My wife kept calling the owner and texting him and no answer. Later, we ran into him and I told him the situation and there was no remorse or but apologies from his part, all he said was, “I’ll tell him to let you in.” You would think as an owner, he would approach the situation differently and seemed careless! In addition, the advertising states, “FREE BREAKFAST, BUCKET OF FOOD TO FEED ALPACAS.” FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!! We didn’t receive anything!!! There was NO FREE BREAKFAST delivered to our footsteps. My wife even texted the owner that we will be checking out soon and a day later has gone and no response from him!! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! Not even a thank you!! My family and I will definitely NOT go back and definitely does NOT recommend this place!!! Save yourself your money and...
Read moreWhat a magical way to spend part of a summer day--- surrounded by lush, green pastures in the company of two of THE MOST adorable Alpacas ever-- Maggie and Serendipity! These incredibly sweet Alpacas could not have been a more perfect fit for us! We just adored them and enjoyed many wonderful laughs and joyous moments in their company!
Sam, our Tour Guide, made sure we maximized our time with Maggie and Serendipity--- even helping us snap pics throughout our tour at the neatest photo opportunities that included vintage trucks, free-standing farm house doors, a fantastic barn with huge greenery board as a back drop, and much, much more!
Every detail planned for from parking, to a hand-washing station and extremely clean restroom facilities to an educational component that included an introduction to Alpacas, a brief overview of where they came from, and safety tips for hand walking the them.
After our tour, we enjoyed snacking on the most beautiful AND delicious Charcuterie Board I've ever seen while sitting at a table on a gorgeous country style porch, that had been tastefully decorated in a modern, farm house chic. By the way, the view from this gorgeous porch was serene, peaceful, relaxing, and remarkable: Lush green pastures, dotted with grazing Alpacas, under big South Texas blue skies!
Presentation and service were par none from the beginning of our tour to the end. It was the most fun I've had since I can remember. I'm looking forward to returning soon!
Alpaquita Ranch should be at the top of your places to visit in the Rio Grande Valley! Great times and memories made! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this unique...
