Warner Lake is a county park that offers a lot. There aren't a lot of nice lake beaches real close to St. Cloud. This park offers a great trail that goes around the small lake - perfect for an afternoon hike with the family. Along the way, you'll discover a creek with a walking bridge, the outdoor center, and enjoy the scenery. There's also a large picnic area, with a couple of shelters, picnic tables, and grills. The lake itself is nice. It has one of the most awesome beaches locally as it's all sand, with many trees to offer some shade from the hot sun. On a nice weekend, it's common for the beach to be packed, and for there to be lots of people floating on the lake in their floaty devices.
On the backside of the park are primitive camping sites that are quite nice, and settled in the woods, away from the activity on the other side of the lake. We stayed here once and were among the only campers.
For a county park, this park is kept up very nice. I'd highly recommend checking it out and spending...
Read moreWarner Lake Park is a great place to go for a swim, drop a line in the water to fish, have a BBQ, or walk a nature trail around the lake. The beach is soft sand and is well maintained. Basic toilet facilities are available (vault toilets, not flush). Garbage and recycling cans are present. There is a water fountain for drinking, dozens of picnic tables, permanent barbecue grills, a picnic pavilion, and lots of natural shade from the surrounding forest. The fishing pier is large and well maintained. There is also a small playground appropriate for ages 5-12 years old. The water is clear and clean, and warms up to a nice temperature by mid-June each year. No lifeguard on duty. No gas powered motorized watercraft allowed. Peaceful and pleasant (minus the sound of the I-94 traffic zooming past in the distance). Just think of it as a reminder that you're at the lake to slow down, not to race...

Warner Lake isn't the largest, but it is one of the prettiest, in my opinion. With large, mature trees surrounding the beach, and a few scattered across, the shore has plenty of shade to offer.
The water is a bit murky, but not horribly. Aside from typical bits and pieces of plant matter floating around, it's clean, and the beach and surrounding park are well-maintained.
The beach was busy, but not uncomfortably packed. The crowd was a mix of families with children and older teen/college-aged people.
If you're in the area and looking for a pleasant day at the beach, it's definitely worth...
