I wish Google would allow .5 stars. Otherwise this would be a 2.5 rating. But 2 would be unfair. Because I actually didn’t hate my visits here.
I’ve been a Whatcom county native for 34 years. I’ve been to this casino maybe 10 times. This is basically an electronic bingo hall. It’s a class II casino. Meaning instead of playing against an actual slot machine, you’re playing against all the other players in the casino. The stuff you see on the screen is just for fun - it’s legit just bingo. So your odds of winning suck, especially when a lot of people are playing. I used to adore the old Nooksack casino. Their slots were so loose. This place, good freaking luck winning anything. It’s sad.
That being said, they have the sweetest bartender. I wish I got her name. I ordered a Heineken bottle, and she talked me into a $2 Miller Lite. It was happy hour. Their happy hour is awesome. If you’re feeling bored and want to drink for cheap, make the trip for happy hour. I believe she said the well shots and house wines were $2 as well. Freaking deal.
I was extremely put off by their rewards club staff. They weren’t outwardly bad. The gentleman that helped me was nice (albeit awkward as hell), but my god…I approached the desk that had THREE PEOPLE sitting, and not one looked up to greet me. No hello. Not even a glance. I felt so unwelcome. What a gross feeling as a customer. You cannot tell me you didn’t see me. I worked as a rewards club host as Silver Reef. I get that customers are annoying. Some days you’d rather bash your head into the wall than talk to a customer. But it’s your job to be present! Yikes. I just stood there like an idiot for what felt like eternity until I just walked up to one of them. I felt so dumb having to “pick” who would help me. So silly.
If you’re in the area, maybe grab some drinks here. But don’t make a...

I am compelled to share a deeply troubling experience my fiancé and I encountered at Nooksack Northwood Casino recently. During our visit, my fiancé became severely ill after discovering a bug in her soda. She quickly began vomiting and shaking uncontrollably, requiring urgent medical attention.
The most distressing part of this ordeal was the shockingly unprofessional conduct displayed by the manager and other staff members. Instead of offering assistance and support, the manager's response was rude and dismissive. To make matters worse, while my fiancé was being treated by medics, the behavior of some employees crossed a line. Laughing and mockery from staff members were captured on a police officer's body camera, highlighting their complete lack of empathy and professionalism during a life-threatening situation.
This callous behavior is unacceptable and deeply concerning. No one should have to endure such treatment, especially during a medical emergency.
I implore everyone to exercise caution and reconsider visiting Nooksack Northwood Casino. The way they handled this situation was disgraceful and showed a shocking disregard for customer well-being.
This experience has left us profoundly shaken. I sincerely hope that management takes immediate action to address this appalling behavior and implements measures to ensure the safety and dignity of...
Read moreI am giving the Northwood Casino 4 stars because, even though it is a very small, non-luxury establishment, I believe they are at least trying to improve in any way that they can, which is really all that you can ask of any business. They recently added a large "table games" (if that's the right term) section in the center of the main floor. The card/game tables, themselves, seem to be high-quality and are nice/professional-looking. Finally, and this is a BIG ONE for me... the casino staff are actually very nice, non-threatening, and don't make you feel as if you're constantly being watched.
Of course, especially in a casino, everyone already knows that their every move is being monitored, recorded from three different angles, deconstructed, analyzed, and then neatly reassembled into their very own, comprehensive behavioral profile/threat assessment, however, I am not particularly fond of being constantly reminded of that fact every time I happen to glance to my left, or right, and see an unusually squinty individual, sporting the practical "Security" gear, or the subtle, yet effecting, black suit/walkie-talkie combo, whose look can only be translated as, "Please, be welcome!"
I am definitely ranting now, and being silly, and I apologize. Apparently, I have a lot to say about rude, overzealous casino employees. Who knew! Well, here's to Northwood Casino, for not making me feel like I'm in a 90's Bond...
