We stopped by San Joaquin after visiting another winery in the area and before heading to San Francisco for a flight back home. We arrived right before they were supposed to open, but even at opening time, they did not open their doors right away - pulling on doors, knocking, and calling did not do anything.
What we got: Tempting Sweets Flight: Peach Passion - a good peach wine, but we've had better. My husband liked this one more than the mango. Mango Mambo - a good mango wine, but I actually liked this one more than the peach. Pomegranate Sangria - I liked this one okay on it's own. Red Moscato - Didn't really care for this one. Blackberry - I server threw this one in for us, and it was a pretty good blackberry wine.
Tasters Choice Flight: Brut Blanc De Blanc - This was okay, but my favorite of the sparkling wines. Sparkling Moscato - Didn't really care for this one. Brut Rose - Didn't really care for this one. White Moscato - Didn't really care for this one. Mambo/Pomegranate Blend - our server mentioned that they blend this one often, so I asked for this to be my last choice. This was my favorite of the day, really enjoyed this blend as they worked well together.
As we were flying back with only carry on luggage, I asked about shipping. They do ship, but unfortunately the shipping charge was just too much for just wanting to purchase two bottles (mango and pomegranate). I know shipping wine is quite costly, but the other winery we went to charged only half as much, so that is where we purchased all of our wine from.
Overall, we enjoyed the fruit wines, and I was disappointed in the moscato wines - we have had much better. The experience was okay - great server who poured generously, mediocre to good (not great) wines, and the environment was...
Read moreWe are proud members of San Joaquin Winery and recently got married there. The experience was absolutely amazing! Jamie, one of the winery's employees, served as our event coordinator for both the day of and the day before the wedding, and she was truly exceptional. Jamie ensured everything stayed on track and ran seamlessly. She guided us around the winery, granting us access to some stunning spots for breathtaking photos. She also kept us on schedule with the itinerary and made sure we took time to eat amidst the excitement. The entire team at San Joaquin Winery went above and beyond to make our day special, and we highly recommend them for any event. We couldn’t be happier with Jamie’s dedication and the overall experience at San Joaquin Winery. Both...
Read moreVisited here for a Saturday wine tasting in May 2022. Great experience. Our host was so nice and was a great introduction to the history of this winery. The tasting room was air conditioned perfectly and the bar area is big. They had a big set up in their patio/grass area which looked beautiful. This would be a great place for a big event. Enjoyed the wines we tasted and brought home a bottle. Definitely would stop by again when wine-tasting in Madera. I called that morning when they opened and asked if reservations were needed for 2, nope, we could...
