Belews Lake is a reservoir in Stokes, Rockingham, Guilford and Forsyth counties of North Carolina, near the towns of Stokesdale and Pine Hall. It was created in 1973 by the Duke Energy corporation as a cooling basin for the corporation's Belews Creek Steam Station, a coal-burning power plant.

Actually YOU CAN BANK FISH THIS LAKE.. Only a couple of spots , but don't let some one say your not aloud to bank fish in FORSYTH COUNTY.. DO NOT bank fish if in STOKES COUNTY. !!!! That will be a towed vehicle no question ask first offence. AND a nice size fine.. I personally only bank fish in two spots . There is two boat landings you ARE ALOUD TO FISH.. Have to be 50 to a 100' away from actual landing its self. I personally my self called and talked to a on duty North Carolina wildlife officer (Game warden).. I love this lake. I've been to Badin, High Rock, and Brandt lake too. Out of all of them this is the most easily accessible lake! There's quite a few entry points as well. We've been kayaking here for years, from when we first started. There's an island we usually go to on kayaks that has a sandy floor around it. There's also a 'sand bar' to hang out on near a 'danger' marked buoy. I'd wear shoes just in case, because some of the entry points are a bit rocky. I just wish boat folks wouldn't park at the only entry points of islands, since kayakers don't have a lot of options of how to get...
