I had high hopes because of the ratings. The park itself seemed nice, but the rules about big dog and little dog sides (25+ vs -25 pounds) is not followed. When I went today, it seemed like separation by sex of parents!! Men on th big dog side, women on little dog side. Dogs of all sizes were everywhere! I took my two small dogs ha to the appropriate side and, before long, a large black dog WITH A MUZZLE ON aggressively approached my two small dogs and me. He was pushing my little guys around very roughly. She called him a few times without success so then she had to grab him and pull him away from us!! This was at least a 50 pound dog WEARING A MUZZLE! She said, "he can't get them", I assume because of th muzzle, but that big dog scared us!! I admit she offered to leave when we started to leave, but I waved her off and we just left. A dog park is only as good as the patrons following the rules! We won't be back. I wanted a place for my boys (who go to unleashed camp every weekday) to run and play with pups their size. This won't be that...
Read moreThe park was empty while we were there. But It was nice. Previous visitors had left toys to play with. There is work being done on the fence that divides the areas for large and small dogs. The water was not on. I'm assuming that's because it hasn't gotten hot out yet. I love the creek that runs alongside the park. My dog had fun splashing around in it. BEWARE OF SNAKES!!! We saw a VERY LARGE SNAKE in the brush along the creek. We actually thought it might be some roots or branches of a tree. My son tossed a rock in its direction to point it out to me and it went into the water! We were both shocked because it was huge like a tree branch. It won't stop us from getting in the water when it's warm, but keep your eyes open so your dogs stay safe. I think it will be a great dog park to visit when the...
Read moreAs far as dog parks go, it's got two areas and is large in size. My question tho, is why is no dog park I've been to in Huntsville/Madison handicap accessible? No park is close to the parking lot. It has paved walkways, but unless you have a motorized chair, you have to walk a long distance or cross a busy road or backtrack from the parking lot and then go under the road (the tunnel floods a lot) and walk a bit to reach the actual dog park. Creekwood is also a good walk away from the parking lot. It's like HSV and Madison don't realize handicap people have pets. It's honestly a little ridiculous.
This park is fine once you get to it, and almost everyone I've run into is friendly. My dog rates this place as 10/10...
