Not sure if the Railroad is still functioning. We happened on the Railroad while sightseeing. The rails are rusted and show no sign of recent usage. Now for the positives. The station is clean and painted and currently serving as U.S. Post Office. There is also a Diner across from the station that appears to be open and operating, just not when we were there. They have several small static engines on display. I believe these probably are powered by diesel engines. They are all on four wheels with very small cans. One engine is steam operated. However the the place is closed, so bear that in mind as far as any facilities or first aid if you explore the tracks. The original rails are still there and you can follow them quite a ways north. There are various signs of infrastructure and rail controls but no sign of poles or early telecommunications. You can gain rail access from a few other points from various roads in the area as well.
