Wesserunsett Lake — Attraction in Madison

Grew up here since 6 months old so I am biased. East shore camps are treated to sunsets over the Longfellow range, Sugarloaf and Bigelow mountains, the course of the Appalachian Trail. Summer theater at Lakewood, since the early 1900's. Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculputure, an elite art colony crosses most of the south end of the lake, which lessons boat traffic as there are no boats, but maybe a floating bar, or a floating sculpture some years. This is generally a warm lake due to it being shallow. There are often fireworks shot in to the sky from various camps along the perimeter in the evenings, but especially during the 4th of July. E Madison has a great boat landing, the fishing is good, swimming in 2 spots, lakewood side a little rocky it is a good place to put in canoes or kayaks any small water crafts.
