I visited this park on two different occasions and the people in the office were always friendly and helpful. As of now, there is a $3 fee to enter. There are several trails to walk around the park, and though they are only a little over a mile each, they are beautiful trails. There is a lake here and you can fish, swim, and kayak if you bring your own kayak. There are plenty of picnic tables and barbecue pits. The park also has cabins for people to rent and stay overnight. You cannot exceed 3 nights in these cabins. Though the cabins do not have a bathroom or sink inside, they are lovely, clean, and comfortable. There is a screened porch and a lovely deck, four wooden lounge chairs, a small wooden table and two built-in wooden counter spaces that you can use as tables. You can have up to 8 people per cabin, but (inside) the cabin only has one full bed, a bunkbed, a table w/ 4 chairs, a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and a trash receptacle. There is also a good AC/heater. Bring your own bedding, and a trashbag as you MUST clean up after yourself. There is a water spigot outside the cabin for you to do your washing, there are also bathroom facilities, and an outdoor shower- I posted some shower and cabin photos. My only complaint, and it is probably nothing to other people, is that the men's shower stall had a built-in corner shelve and a hook, but the women's stall did not have a shelve or a hook. I had to place all of my items on the concrete and my towel got wet. Other than that, I love this park, and I look forward to returning. There is wheelchair accessible parking, wheelchair accessibility to the picnic tables nearest to the parking area, accessibility to the restrooms, and shower, and to the cabins; however, if you want to explore the trails, you will...
Read moreThe park is small and the cabins are really nice but the path to get to the cabins is not so good. When we first got there we thought there was more park than there actually was and we kept trying to find the cabins but it was a little confusing figuring out there is a bridge to actually get to the cabins. Now there are 2 entrances to get to the cabins and the back entrance is easier for the back cabins but it still quite a walk to get to especially with all your bags, blankets and cooler. The bridge entrance has a more difficult entrance with rocks but the side entrance is better just still a ways away. I would be back but I highly recommend a cart like the ones from academy to put all ur bags into and that will make the haul a little easier, I know for next time. But this being our first time here it was just a big surprise and a slight inconvenience but you live you learn. Now usually at state parks there are park hosts selling firewood or even at the headquarters with a self pay box for firewood but this being so small the only time available to buy firewood would be during office hours and most stores are about a 20 min drive away. So my recommendation is if you have a cabin bring a cart, don't pack to bulky, look at your map very closely to figure out how to get to the cabins and prepare for a walk. But over all the cabins are very nice and I...
Read moreThe park is a beautiful place. It is VERY frustarting that you do not have a private shower anywhere in the park. There is a VERY PUBLIC shower. It has see through walls and is in the middle of the day use area. Where people can watch you or your children shower all they want to. Not to mention the RV with tinted windows that is parked 10 feet away from the shower.
When we came to these cabins we had to park in a parking lot and walk over a bridge then up a steeper than I would've liked rocky trail to your cabin. While it is a "short walk" it is not a fun one in the middle of July at 105. I had two small kids, and a handicapp husband. I had to carry almost all the gear up to my cabin myself. It was HOT, and would've been SOOOO much easier had I been able to park in front of my cabin. Considering that every other campsite normally lets you park right in front of your cabin. There is even a road in front of the cabins, they just dont let the guest drive on them.
It is not fun to have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and take that walk down the rocky unsure footed path to the potty. A handicapp person could NOT have done it for sure. My husbands back is very bad and he had a very hard time with it durning the day. I could not imagine him having to take the path at night....
