Boothe Lake — Attraction in Mammoth Lakes

Stayed two nights at Boothe Lake (7/23- 7/24) while fishing the surrounding lakes. Went via Rafferty trail on my way from Tuolumne Meadows to the valley floor. The fly fishing was fun as the hungry brook trout hit flys with aggressive vigor and were fun to fish. This high country area is not frequented often. Most backpackers take the route a little further east to go over Vogelsang pass. Stay on the path that passes Emerick Lake and you will be rewarded with another spectacular alpine lake. Great place to camp camp with perfect mountain lake reflections off of Boothe Lake in the the morning light. We made this our first overnight stop out of Tuolumne Meadows which was an easy trek.
