Stunning geological feature like a mini Yellowstone in the desert. Ample parking plus toilet available. There’s a good view from the parking lot. There’s also a 6 minute path that takes you closer to the action. Warning: do not attempt to go in or cross the river. ā›”ļø There are parts of the river that are scalding hot and will cause severe burns. Ground is also unstable. I saw a family with children crossing the river and trying to touch the blue pools. Everybody was screaming but they wouldn’t listen. Do not do this. The warning āš ļø signs from the forest service are there for a good reason.

Don't trust Google Maps! Maps says it should take just a couple of minutes to reach this side of the hot springs. It felt like hours as we needed to drive very slowly and carefully to not damage the car. We went there with an SUV - not a good idea! Even a 4x4 jeep was struggling. Way back we took an other route which was as same bad as the one before. The hot springs are very beautiful and you can see them from a very short distancance. But it wasn't worth it. 09/2024

The west side of the Hot Creek springs allows you to get down to the main pools of the geological area. The trails to get here will require an offroad vehicle as there is no main road. There is no parking area so if going in a group you will need to be creative to fit in everyone. To get to the springs you will need to hike down a hill so those who are not that mobile will need to take care as it is rather steep.
