Lyell Canyon trail is a very pleasant trail. It can be as short as one mile, to a full multiple day hike over 20 miles. The trail head has a large park lot. Trail head starts right at the south end of the parking lot: At 0.2m, You meet first bridge across Tuolumne River (Dana Fork) At 0.8m, Twin bridges over Tuolumne River. These two bridge area is a very beautiful spot where the Lyell fork of the Tuolumne river drops into several small cascades, and the meadow opens up, Great view of Mammoth Peak. Hanging the hammock here and calling it a day for the trip. The location was divine and the river was spectacular early summer. At 1.1m, Pacific Rim Trail meets with JMT, turn left. At 1.5m, you will cross another bridge of the Rafferty Creek. Turn right, you will follow Rafferty River to Volgaslang High Sierra Camp (another 5.7m) Stay left to follow JMT/Pacific Cres Trail. The trail goes pleasantly between lodgepole forest and meadows At 4.0m, Spectacular Kuna Creek cascades down the side of the east canyon wall. The North Kuna Crest at the east. You will meet Lyell fork and several small lakes, At 5.5m, Ireland lake trail meets with JMT. Go straight, At 9 miles, you reach ireland lake. If you have wilderness permit, you can camp at ireland lake. For day hiker, it is the time to turn around and go back

Fun easy in and out hike. We visited here the last week in June. Very scenic with unbelievable views of the canyon and the surrounding peaks. Good fishing with a lot of aggressive Brook, Brown and Rainbow Trout. We didn't hook up anything big 🙃. We found the best fishing to be about 1/4 mile north of Kuna Creek. The majority of the fish we caught were in the 6-11"'s. The four days we fished we must've caught 80 fish between me and my fishing partner over four days. Great camping spots and the water is so refreshing to get into.

This was a nice hike. It's a relatively easy out and back hike with beautiful views of the streams and waterfalls. Some areas don't have a lot of shade along the way. Plenty of parking at the trailhead.

Tuolumne Meadows (as long as you want it to be) The Tuolumne River on the eastern side of Yosemite is breathtaking. There are many variations to this hike, and you can’t go wrong.

One option is to park by the Lyell Canyon trailhead and enjoy this perfectly flat, beautiful hike. When you get to the second bridge over the river you can either cross it and head toward Vogelsang and start gaining a little elevation or you can choose not to cross the bridge and go left, staying closer to the...
