The Mountain is currently in shoulder season, so the Top is closed. I was up there introducing my new dog to the annual gotta-hike-it ritual. But during the summer, it's a pretty cool place to catch your breath after the fairly tough climb up. The views are unmatched and there are lots of maps/exhibits, some food choices, *and* they let you ride the gondola back down for free. For the full round-trip, it ain't cheap: variable pricing, $22-30 per adult (kids free).

Mammoth still has a lot of snow for the end of May. Get there early as the snow gets slushy around 1030-11am. They open the lifts at 730am.
