We enjoyed the gondola up to the summit of Mammoth Mountain, but found most of the staff to be rude and unhelpful. The employee we picked up our tickets from was incredibly rude and barely acknowledged my existence. No eye contact, unresponsive, etc. only did the bare-bones minimum and sent out a “I really don’t want to help you” vibe. He also neglected to tell us that we need each member of our party to have their own ticket on their person to get through the electronic gate to board the gondola. I had both my bf and my tickets in my pocket and so I got through but he didn’t, and it took us awhile to figure out what was going on. There’s no staff here to help either, and there really should be. We saw others struggling to figure this system out. I also asked a worker at the base of the mountain what the elevation was there, and he very sarcastically and condescendingly pointed at a building where the elevation was displayed. He never said a word to me. I’m kinda shocked at how blatantly rude he and many of the other staff were. Some were very friendly and helpful, but the seemed like the exception rather than the norm. We love coming to this area, but may think twice about patronizing Mammoth Mountain resort since they seem okay with staff treating their...
Read moreThis is the best view in mammoth, if you have never been dont confuse this gondola ride with the one at the village. if your staying in the village you can take the red line bus for free to main lodge. we stop by after the tube park about 1pm and there was no one inline to purchase tickets, once you have your tickets go across the street to the gondola yes you have to wait inline there but otherwise the wait is minimal. We got there at 1 and were back down the mountain in the main lodge by 3pm dont go past 3 crowds start leaving and the buses get pack after that. The ride up is beautiful but you will have to share a ride with some people most likely ours were all very nice. We didnt get off in the middle we just stayed on the gondola to go all the way to the top. Once at the top the view on a clear day is breathtaking. We went to the the small cafe it has some soups, hot dogs, meat wrapped in pitas, drinks but not much else dont expect a full seat down meal with waited service, but you can seat down eat and enjoy the views. It is crowded but most people are heading out to ski so its not bad at all. All the attendants operating every thing were super nice. Will definitely...
Read moreGoogle, remove the lodging (bed symbol) from this location. There is no lodging here, only a small food service facility within an upper gondola station. Great views from here. Many people think they are looking at the Yosemite Valley and Half Dome, but that is Balloon Dome and the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River in the view to the west. Yosemite Valley contains the Merced River.
