RUDE unprofessional and untrained park staff... Security entering was a joke as 2x I walked thru the front and no one checked our bags much less our ADMISSION tickets. 3rd time they searched my bag but stopped once found "contraband swedish fish" but didnt look further for weapons etc... lol. Ok?
They only have 2 longer slides and they take 20 seconds to go thru.... but one of them was closed. We asked someone if they are going to open or is broken and was met with a rude glare and "its obviously broken".... no not obvious? So we asked you??
Untidy and unhygienic park... absolutely disgusting! Lazy river filled with more leaves than my front yard in Fall. Food prices were crazy (but was expected)... the pizza looked like was cooked yesterday and sat out all night? Disgusting... Bathrooms stunk and just not cleaned. Not one of the inner tubes for the Lazy River was able to stay inflated.
Customer service.... asking staff where bathrooms were, what time it was, or any other question was met with rude answers. We asked the pizza cashier if free refills and he couldn't understand and FORGOT the question 3 times?? We stood by The Lazy River on three different occasions to get tubes... Two of the lifeguards stared at us and just had their casual conversation keep going as we stood there waiting for them to come to us for about a minute until my gf spoke up? And one muttered under his breath at her. The second time my ten-year-old son was next in line for an inner tube in the staff just stared at him. After about forty seconds he rudely asked my son aren't you supposed to tell me what you want? Well no he's 10 years old buddy LOL.... thats your job.
The water was suspect as well... it did not have a chorline smell to it so we suspect the levels weren't correct. Oh, we washed ourselves very well when got home.
I will commend the lifeguards we saw who sprang into action were super quick the 2 times it happened so safety seemed high priority. However... they must have some sort of Park rule that lifeguards must be moving at all times?? Literally we thought some of the lifeguards were on drugs with the way that they were moving their heads and bodies like they had to stay moving at all times it was crazy to see.
As others have said they have a bee problem... I got stung twice entering first slide. And son and gf 1 time. Eating at the tables we had no less than 8 hovering non stop. And 4 more areas were bee central.
This place is something else and wont ever drive 75 minutes again for it. I hope management sees this review. But it wont matter as if they bring the crowds, why change a thing as they are more concerned with contraband food and loosing $ profit than a...
Read moreOnly because they didn't let me put zero stars. TL;DR: I developed Bell's palsy, temporary facial paralysis, likely as a result of an infection I got from the water here.
Long version: Took a couple of 5 and 8 year old boys who I nanny here August 16, 2017. Water reeked of urine. I wish I was exaggerating. I would be standing at the edge of the lazy river or in the splash pool of a slide and get hit with a wave of the stench carried on the humid summer air. I asked a lifeguard about the odor. He said they tried to keep it clean, but what could you do with all these people. A splash of water got up my nose while I was following one of the boys I was with down a slide. It was a small amount--nothing that had not happened to me before at other waterparks.
That night the back of my throat began to itch. By the next day I had a painful, scratchy tightness across the roof of my mouth extending into the top part of my throat. I've had sore throats aplenty, but I had never felt this particular kind of pain. I was not feverish or even coughing, but this did not feel like any other kind of infection I had ever had. I went to an Urgent Care after it persisted and became more painful over a few days, and swabbed negative for a strep test.
On Sunday, 8/21, I woke up with Bell's palsy, temporary paralysis on the right side of my face. The day before there had been minor twitching and pain behind my ear, but I had dismissed these almost unnoticeable symptoms. This was the day I drove back out to my school in Chicago for my second year. As of this writing (8/31) I am recovering well, the sore throat having cleared up a few days after the paralysis began, and have tested negative for a Lyme disease blood test. I have never shown herpes symptoms, so I did not test for that. Bell's palsy can also arise from common infections. My family and I think it is likely that I got it from the infection this nasty pool gave me. The water slides and park structure are fun and whatnot, but the water is absolutely unforgivably disgusting. It's an achievement for me to be able to twitch the muscle along my right cheekbone, and I have to wear an eyepatch around campus. This is because my right eye does not blink unless I focus and cannot close fully; I have to literally tape it shut at night. Initially, it was fully paralyzed and would not close at all. I cannot smile on one side and until a few days ago my lips would not stay closed on the right while I chewed food. All because some waterpark can't be bothered to at least ensure the water hundreds of people get in their eyes and throats every day doesn't stink like a sewer drain in summer heat. (1/2, part 2 attached as...
Read moreGot the season pass this year for our family of 3. Got our money's worth after about 6ish visits. We love how we can enter anytime, even if 1-2 hours before closing. Especially at times when daily tickets are sold out. We don't have no worries about entry. Entering the park is a breeze with season passes.
Lazy river is decent in size. The only flaw is how the entrance is the opposite side of the exit. There is only one exit, which is the lagoon that is located at the main entrance. Regardless of where you reserve a chair/spot, expect to walk a distance either to the lazy river entrance or exit. We learned to bring our sandals with us while on the lazy river, so we don't walk barefoot returning near the lazy river entrance area for our belongings. Oh, I love tha they had double tubes with one without a hole so our toddler can be safe. And, they never ran out of life vests for the kiddies. Aside from the smallest red life vests, the rest were in great quality and aesthetics.
Food price is the typical price range for a theme park. The only problem is, the chicken tenders quality is not equivalent to the price paid. Seems like the tenders were frozen, then quickly and poorly deep fried. For the price paid, I expected average preparation, and not below average. Chilli fries were good, but we always ask for the sauces to be separated so the fries do not get soggy so quickly.
Lifeguards were all active and attentive. I have to commend their training and preparation. I felt safe for my family and everyone else knowing that they were everywhere and paid attention, like prison guards. I just don't like that we are not allowed to sit on the side of the kiddy pool section, but this must be for safety reasons.
Buy the refillable cups, if you also bought the season pass. $15, I think, for the season cup with UNLIMITED drinks. Such a steal for consumers. The cup is also sturdy, and amazingly can be used for the entire season, not just for the day.
Overall, this waterpark is convenient in location, less hasle for park entry, affordable season passes, good fries (not so much of the chicken tenders), refillable cups is a plus.
The reason for 4 out of 5 stars, is that we cannot exit the lazy river where we enter, all because of a sign the park had placed at the entrance. The lazy river exit is too far from the kiddy pool area, where the lazy river enters. Would have given this review 1 out of 5 stars, for this one issue alone. But, had to give more stars, as our family enjoyed everything else. See you...
