This trail is located in an area that's free to enter and has a seasonal bathroom on site. Being the end of November 2024, it's currently closed for the season, but the path is accessible to walk to the waterfall no problem. The trail is paved asphalt to the overlook of the waterfall which makes for an easy walk. But, if you're adventurous and want to get closer, it becomes steep and slippery in spots down the dirt trail to the bottom but totally worth the effort.
There's also a sign along the path for "lower falls". Don't be fooled, it's just a path leading down to the bottom of the waterfall, not a separate waterfall. I just took the easy way down by crossing over the top of the fall and followed the path to the bottom. The path to "lower fall" actually crosses through the creek and the rocks are extremely slippery, I do not recommend this route.
Today on November 29th while everyone else is Black Friday shopping, I enjoyed the waterfall completely to myself for a couple...
ย ย ย Read moreThe falls are beautiful - really nice little hike to the pool down below Iโve visited a couple of times now- most recently to camp! The tent sites were good, some are a bit too close together if you donโt know your neighbors but nice to be by the creek! You do now have to reserve and pay for your sites, they recently finished full hook up spots for rvs and campers too! Sites can be booked on bookyoursite.com :) The facilities are great also. I do hope that with these new fees that some additional ranger/ staff presence will follow. Our group stumbled upon a man shooting up in the parking lot and there was a pair of women clearly living out of their car in the parking lot also. I can only assume they were taking advantage of a free shower and bathroom which while I understand that, they were not sober either. Just a bit of bummer to have to deal with that when you gotta pee especially as we had children in our group.
Definitely a beautiful place to go visit overnight or on...
ย ย ย Read moreIt was beautiful but absolutely overcrowded. I've visited a lot of waterfalls, and other than niagra and cumberland, this place would come in at #3 . Beautiful but not peaceful, at least today. Couldn't even stand at botom of falls for pics with puppy without kids at the top in suimsuits giving us stink eye (idk if they were jumping from top down?) We did get lucky to go a bit off path for a couple puppy pics but not what we were hoping for.
Dog friendly if leashed, plenty of places for pup to jump in to get wet or run through water for a moment.
Short hike, but if you have bad knees or hips, absolutely bring walking poles. The first part is paved, but if you want to the bottom (there are signs to follow) but it would get steep for someone who might struggle on mud or steep hills. Great exercise for dogs ๐
We took a ton of pics n video, Idk how many it'll let me post, so I'll add more...
