One hour to the 1 minute shower: If you, like me, only PAY to camp for the hot showers that campgrounds provide, keep reading.
UPDATE : I told the fee booth guy on my second visit that the shower didn't work after the first 3mins last time and he replied, 'That happens all the time. We are always fixing them.' Write State Parks and urge them to get on board with OR and CA and abandon the token system! I have reduced my review from 2 stars to 1 because this time I spent 40 mins cleaning up the campsite because it was so trashed. WTF?! Does the staff do anything besides collect money?! What am I paying for exactly?
ORIGINAL POST: Bleary-eyed, I trundled up to the public restrooms this morning only to discover that, unlike California and Oregan State Parks, hot showers are NOT included with the pricey square of dirt where you park your tent. I shuffle over to the Camp Host, who I have to wake up in order to find out how to get 'tokens.' She replies that they are only available at the Gate. The same Gate where I paid my campsite fee the day before, when the friendly ranger did not bother to ask me if I needed any 'tokens.' I am told they cost money, so I then shuffle back to my campsite, getting lost on the wrong loop on the way. Reorienting, I grab the only cash I have, a $1 bill and a $20. I shuffle over to the Gate, at some distance from my tent and pretty much as far away as you can GET from the camping area, and find that there are no rangers manning the booth until 11am, long after everyone will be finished showering. There is a token machine, but it only takes $1 and $5 bills. I resign myself to a short shower and slide in the 1$ bill. Two tokens clinkle out into my hands. I then, desperately needing to pee, precaffeinated, sweating from all the running around, wander back to the single shower that all women in the entire campground must share. Fortunately for me, no one else has been able to figure out how to obtain the elusive dodo bird of a 'hot shower' at this campground, so I get the shower to myself! I pop the first token in and after about 90 seconds, the water gets warm. 90 seconds after that, the water stops completely. I pop the second token in. Nothing happens. $1 for 90 second shower, after paying $27 for a square of dirt. This is going a bit too far. I mention to a ranger that I would like to file a complaint. They take my name and number promise that someone would get back to me after 11am. Nobody does. I will now be filing multiple complaints with WA State Parks. I have never seen so many Parks people in a single park doing 'grounds maintenance,' and yet not a single one to attend to the people actually...
Read moreOk for those who are planning to get married here, here was questions i found other ways to be answered... You can go to the website but it doesn't have the details that i was personally looking for... well at least i didn't find it.... There is a lot of other information that is on their site so i suggest that you do take time to take a look it has a lot of Rukes and regulations.... The reservation system is so easy! To reserve the "Torpedo House" it is $208 with tax it comes out to $218.35 I did my reservation by calling it's more simple for me the number is on the site. There is electric and it is closer to the front entrance to the right. There is 17 picnic tables that is 8' L x 2.5' W the tables can be re-arranged. There are 6 grills that are 49" H x 29" W The fire place is 8' W x 62" H Your guest will have to pay for a "Day Pass" which is $10 there is no way around it unless they have a Discovery Pass Or car pool or pay for one car to shuttle your guest... Have a designated parking area and a time for them to get picked up and dropped off with the "shuttle car" You can not have any loud speakers or music playing. You can have an acoustic band to play just no amplified anything... I think this was the junk part =( You need to out of the park an hour before sun down so keep that in mind when you decorate and break down... The rangers will come in and take out the trash throughout the party so make sure your following their Rules and regulations Inside the Torpedo House it's like 5 or 10 degrees colder... So make sure you let your guest know it can get chilly
MAYBE SOMEONE CAN CLEARLY ANSWER MY LAST QUESTION...
I Usually Go Here To Use The FREE Showers. Yes, I Said FREE! Which By Itself iS AMAZiNG! I Only Wish That The Hott Water Wouldn't Shut Off Around 9:30-10PM & That iT Would Stay On Not Only For The Ones Who Can't Make iT There Before Then, But Also For The People Who Are Currently There Camping. They Deserve To Have Warm Showers At All Times While Camping. I Consider iT Paid For By Them & iTs Not Like There iS A Line Of People Who Are There To Use Them. Which iS Also SO NiCE! There Hasn't Been Not One Time Where I Have Needed To Rush Due To There Being Another Person Showing Up To Use The Shower While I Am Still Finishing Up My Own Shower. I Do Wish That There Was An Option To Turn On A Fan, This Way The Windows That Go All The Way Back Into The Shower Stall, Wouldn't Need To Be Cracked Open. I Have PTSD From Past Shower Experiences That Were Super Traumatic, So Just Seeing How Having One Of Those Windows Cracked Open That iS iN The Shower Stall, Could Possibly Lead To Allowing Someone To Stand On Something Tall Enough Outside & Peak iN Through That Cracked Window Doors Make Me A Little Not Uncomfortable & Scared. I Don't Like That. Or Make iT So That The Windows That Are Located iN The Shower Stall Areas, Can Not Be Opened, Like Nailed Shut Or Permanently Closed, So Something Like That Could NEVER Happen...idk. Maybe I'm Just Paranoid, But iT Makes Sense To Me. You NEVER See Windows Located iN Shower Areas That Can Open &/Or Have A Full View Of What's On The Inside...iT's Usually Foggy Or Decoratively Etched Glass With No Option Of Having The Windows Open With Only A Screen Between The Outside & Inside Of...
