It's a beautiful place with a lot of nature to take in. We stayed at a cabin by the lake, and it had a fine-sand beach. The wind was really strong while we were there, so we had to do without the campfire or grill because there was a burn ban. I went as a kid, so I wanted to take my kids 30 years later. The website advertised lots of fun stuff, a fun park with rides, paddleboats, ATV riding, fishing, etc. The fun park wasn't operating. The paddleboats weren't either, in fact, the dock where the paddleboats were was overgrown and in total disrepair. I saw no ATVs whatsoever. They have a restaurant, which I treated us all to on one of the nights. Unfortunately, it wasn't the great experience I'd hoped. Firstly, it seemed like there was some event for another group that we got some leftovers from. Second, and certainly not a smaller issue, my daughter and I ordered the chicken fried steak, and both ended up with some kind of food poisoning or something. We ordered some water to drink, and it smelled and tasted bad, so we ordered other drinks. Three different servers helped us, but that's not to say that they were super attentive, I had to get up and go over to them to get refills for our drinks, boxes to go, and the check. Anyway, definitely not what we'd hoped, and it wasn't a cheap trip . The beach that was just outside our door was beautiful but completely littered with broken glass. The mountains were great, we enjoyed that part of it. There was a fireplace, but no wood was provided. Other than that, the cabin was fine. Overall, I paid quite a bit for our experience, but many of the amenities were either not available or not good. It made me very sad and just a little angry because most of the things I'd hoped to share with my kids just weren't there. We'd like to go back someday, maybe, but definitely not anytime soon and not until they fix the problems. I won't pay all that money to go, though, we'll just pay the small fee for camping. I'd ask for a partial refund because of the missing things and bad experiences, but I feel like that wouldn't go anywhere because it's a state park. The lodge itself seems well maintained, and they looked as if they took good care of the guests there. Oh well, you live, and you learn. At least the mountains were good and the scenery was pretty. I'd suggest saving yourself a little money and just taking...
Β Β Β Read moreWe just had an amazing family reunion at Quartz Mountain. Staying at the lodge was a delight. Everything seemed to be recently updated, the rooms were large, clean, & comfortable, featuring every amenity you might expect in a nice hotel in the city. The views all around Quartz are beautiful, its truly a hidden gem in the great State of Oklahoma. There's lots to do for both kids & adults, from hiking & climbing, to walking thru the caves & swimming in the heated pool, to playing shuttleboard or a game of Chess with giant pieces. We spent a lot of time sitting out by their multiple gas-driven fire pits, lounging in comfortable chairs & staring at the stars. The "LOOKOUT" restaurant was also great, serving tasty (and inexpensive) food for breakfast (weekends only), lunch, & dinner. Our group averaged 15-20 folks per meal, but the staff was always kind enough to get us tables to all sit together. For most of our meals we were served by KELLY and/or HEATHER. They were both GREAT! Taking care of that many people (including toddlers, teenagers, & a lot of aging adults) - AND all of their other tables at the same time - would seem to be stressful, but Kelly & Heather took care of our every need with genuine smiles & graceful courtesy. They treated us like family & I don't say that lightly. We also rented one of their 2 pavilion rooms overlooking the beautiful lake for a "Celebration of Life". The rooms were well equipped with modern audio/video equipment & the buffet meal was delicious. I'm not a buffet-lover in general, but the Quartz chefs have game! One of the best dishes was their prime rib. The easiest way to make this dish is in the oven, but the Quartz/Lookout staff cooked our prime rib on the smoker! This takes more time, love & attention, but WOW was it worth it (the Apple Cobbler made sure we gained a few extra pounds). I don't write many reviews, but writing this one is the least I could do after such an amazing experience. Our visit to Quartz Mountain was one of the "high water marks" of 2023 & we will...
Β Β Β Read moreJune visit, Site MV001 Premium Site We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this campground. It was quiet and well maintained. The bike/walking trail was wonderful. As 70 year olds we appreciate trails that can be walked or ridden without rough spots. The deer were amazing, they would walk right near you without fear. We will definitely return but ...... There were negatives, first of all, the map shows Mountain View campground close to the lake beach. It is if you are able to scale the dam. that also blocked the breeze from the lake. We were told that the park spent $7,000. each on trash cans that had a wifi built in, they did work but none were positioned near enough to the campgrounds. We could get some hotspot internet by our AT&T phones but it wasn't strong enough to watch TV. We had family staying in Cabin #1 that couldn't get any internet inside the cabin but could get it outside. The only thing "premium" about Mountain View campground other than the increase in price was the concrete pad and 50 amp service. No full service, not much view of a mountain. The only full service we found was in a campground with only 30 amp service. The bathrooms were clean enough but showers were in need of attention. I couldn't tell if it was mold or just paint coming off and one had tiles missing. The views...
