My husband and I stayed the night on the ship. The price was really good. A different experience for us. They had 1930's and 40's music playing. Old fashioned lights on the tables. Good Housekeeping magazine's out on the tables from the 1950's. The rooms were very small because they kept them as they were when the ship was built in the 1930's. There was a shared bathroom as well as shower down the hall from us. Lights out at 11 pm. Very relaxing. The employee that worked there stayed on the ship all night was very nice and knowledgeable. We have told a lot of our friends and family about it and will definitely go back there. We were informed that the ship was haunted. That it definitely was. In the middle of the night we heard pounding on the walls. My husband got up and looked down the hallway and nobody was around. Then a little while later I woke up to alarms going off. I asked the host if the night host told him anything about it. He said no and there wasn't...
Read moreThe S.S.City of Milwaukee "Boatel" is really cool! My wife and I have seen it parked there in Manistee for years and always wanted to stop and check out the museum. so I searched it on Google and learned that you can book rooms for the night, what a cool idea!
We booked for the weekend, the rates are very affordable, the ship is well maintained and clean. a great overnight experience for sure. close to all of the area attractions and nearby restaurants.
What I found really awesome was being able to self tour the entire inside & outside of the ship at our own pace, sip coffee out on the deck or relax inside with plenty of seating areas. there is a breakfast area. there are rooms of different sizes to accommodate your needs. there were others that stayed at the same time, but it was so quiet, we barely knew they were there.
Definitely a cool new experience for my wife & I. We'll be back, I surely recommend an...
Read moreThe reason I'm giving it a 3 star isn't because the tour and the ship wasn't great but it's how they implement the tour and how they allow small children to ruin it for others. They should not allow children from ages 8 and younger to be on the tour, they touch everything, they yell and scream and ruin for the other paying customers that are actually interested in the history of the S.S city of Milwaukee. When my boyfriend and I went on this tour over the weekend there was like 6 kids on it, 3 of them which were full on sick, coughing, sneezing, not even wearing a mask and we had to go in some tight quarters with them. Then there was a 2 year old touching and running around and yelling while we were trying to hear the tour guide explain the history. It's a good place to go don't get me wrong but definetely not a place...
