One of my favorite places are lighthouses. I love the history and different architecture of each one, plus where they are located; as some are on a mainland and others are only accessible by boat. Manistique East Breakwater Lighthouse is fairly easy to access on the Boardwalk that leads directly to it and to the Manistique River. But you will have to climb across some big rocks to make it all the way to...

Take the walk. We walked all the way out to the lighthouse and climbed the rocks around it and got to the other side. This was a fun walk and adventure. We came during a time when the waves were crashing against the breakwater pier and our trip yielded some fantastic memories of getting splashed.

The lighthouse itself is really worth exploring up close. Just...

One of my favorite lighthouses so far on our trek around Like Michigan to photograph lighthouses. A serene setting where you can walk out to the lighthouse. We went down to the breakwall parking lot with our 35 foot RV with no problem. There is another place to park if you're bigger, just to the north by an old fishing boat that's been beached on the side of...

Whent here with family of 5 and it was fun. My boys loved climbing around on the rocks of the breakwater. The light house isn't the most impressive one I've ever seen but still nice. I found it amazing that the water is still stained dark in the area from all the sawdust dumped into the water over 100 years ago back in the logging days!
