Went to see the solar eclipse, and decided the place to see it was from my boat on Lake Marion, and man was I right!
Now, as an out-of-state visitor to my boat here's my thoughts. The launch ramp was a bit convoluted to get to from I-95. Bunch of turns on back roads. However, once there the launch facility was very nice, with a huge amount of space to park. The lake was nice and clean. The only hazard (which I already knew about) was the large number of stumps just under the surface, so in some areas you really have to pay attention. I tried to follow other boats once out in the main lake, and managed to not strike any stumps. Leaving GPS managed to take us to a dead-end dirt road, which was fun turning around on with a trailer in tow (and we weren't the only people who got lead here.) All in all, I was glad I...

But with a child the size of Santee catfish, I can't ever be too cautious with them in the water. As far as the stumps...
