Burlington county has hit a homerun with this park. The trails are clear and wide. The lake is “crystal” clear with fishing permitted. There are pavilions and bathrooms. Horse back riders can be often seen on the trails. A don’t miss for hikers and cyclist. A Hidden Gem in Bordentown! Crystal Lake Hiking Trail is a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Tucked away in Bordentown, this serene trail offers something for everyone—whether you’re an avid hiker, a casual walker, or someone who just loves being outdoors.
The scenic beauty is incredible, with well-maintained paths that wind through lush woods and alongside peaceful water views of Crystal Lake. The sounds of birds chirping and the gentle rustle of leaves make it a tranquil experience. It’s also a great place to spot wildlife—on my visit, I saw herons, turtles, and a few deer in the distance.
The trail is family- and pet-friendly, with plenty of spots to pause, enjoy the scenery, and take pictures. It’s not overly strenuous, making it accessible for people of all fitness levels, but it still feels like a rewarding hike thanks to the variety of terrains. For dog owners, this trail is a dream! My pup absolutely loved exploring the trails and splashing in the shallow water areas.
Parking is convenient, and the area is clean and well-maintained, showing the care that the local community puts into preserving this natural haven.
Whether you’re looking for a place to hike, walk your dog, or simply enjoy some quiet time in nature, Crystal Lake Hiking Trail is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back—and bringing...
Read moreWe have visited this quiet nature reserve several times now. In fact, every time we visit our daughter who lives in Roebling/Florence we make sure to explore the area. There has always been something new to spot and the different times of year yield different creatures and birds. Large flocks of Red-winged Blackbirds we here in the fall of 2011 along with a few migrant warblers. In contrast there were several more species of very vocal warblers in the spring of 2012. We suspect beaver are in the lake and some large bullfrogs(?) too. Beware! During a visit on a very still day (no wind) we heard a sudden crash as a bough from a tree came crashing down rather too close for comfort. We look forward to our next visit in April 2014 when we have our next trip to the USA. Clive &...
Read moreMy daughter (3.5 years old) and I spend at least 1 lunchtime per week here. We usually eat at the rear picnic area of the park just because there's a real (with actual plumbing and flushing toilets) restroom on the back side, up front (Rt 130 entrance) there's only a porta-style, and we then walk the path until we find ourselves in the hiking path leading to the lake. We easily spend 2 to 3 hours walking around, enjoying the shade, animals, other walkers, all the nature of being in the woods. It's a fantastic place to get 'lost' for a while and spend some quality time either with a child, family member, friend or just...
