The Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center — Attraction in Mansfield Township

Very disappointed brought my family here to feed the fish and walk around Apparently they closed on Fridays and the website Google and the automated message on the phone system says they’re open when they are not. But unfortunately, we weren’t aware of. I called several times and no one ever answer the phone until the morning we were heading here that’s when we found out. They were closed so although we were disappointed we decided we weren’t going to come, but the woman called me back and said we can come down and she would come out and let us feed the fish and enjoy the place because we were on vacation and not from here When we showed up to feed the fish I brought a family of eight here with children included, and I was given a tiny little medicine cup sized container full of fish food and told that was it. A nice educational place to bring kids. There is plenty of room for kids to run, and the exhibits provide an opportunity to learn about the various animals that inhabit the state. We found the staff to be informative and friendly. When we were preparing for our trip we read the reviews here: the negative comments were nothing like anything we experienced. The kids really enjoyed seeing the fish pens. The Open House provides lots of opportunities to roam around and ask questions. Pequest is not huge, but a nice visit for a couple hours in which the kids can blow off some steam in a safe environment and learn something about that environment while...

We signed up two weeks ahead of time on their website, went there on the first week of August with two young kids, The education center is suppose to be fun for the kids to explore fish and wildlife. The second we walk through the door, we have the feeling that we're not welcome there. The people there are rude, unfriendly. It resemble a trip to the DMV.
