Besides it being the park we're my wife and I really fell for each other plus, our first kiss was there 2 years ago (as of writing this), it was absolutely wonderful to be able to have our small wedding at the pavilion area of the park. Our photographers absolutely adored the natural beauty and took a good amount of shots of the scenery in between our shoots lol. I don't blame them, the park offers breathtaking scenery that imho, captures a small sampling of natural beauty of Eastern CT.
Its wonderful as much as beautiful anytime of the year. Nature walks, fishing, boating, picnics, cook outs, playing out in the feild areas, and/or just to enjoy the splendors of nature can be done here. I've been coming to the park for a very long time and it never has gotten old/stale to walk along the water or deep into the wooded trails.
Instead of going on and on about the park, I say just go yourself and see how wonderful it is...
Read moreMy friends and I love hiking, biking, and riding our horses here on the trails. The lake is great for ice skating in the winter too, interesting phenomenons underneath the ice and so much beautiful wildlife (great forest to go bird watching!) but be careful that the ice isn't too thin! Lots of fun trails with a volleyball net and baseball field, great place to picnic, play fetch with your dog or take your dog for a swim. I've never been canoeing and kayaking here but the lake is great for that too (humans are not allowed to swim though because it's a public water supply). Fantastic place, endless possibilities. Highly recommend you adventure here. Plus, there's NO BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every state park around here there's mosquitoes, thirsty deer flies sucking away at your blood and making you itch all over, NOT HERE!! See you around...

Warning: in late September we encountered a Timber Rattlesnake ( one of only two venomous snakes in the region) it was on the yellow trail only a few hundred yards from the parking area. It came onto the trail and was very aggressive, so be careful with children and pets during the...
