Balanced Rock was one of 2 particular places on our list. Balanced Rock is absolutely worth the trip. However, you will begin your trip near the Chisos Mountain turn-off along an 8-mile dusty, gravelly road. So, if you have an SUV - you are AOK, but otherwise, take caution. We drove down past the Grapevine Trail 3 campground until we had to pull over, stop, and walk the rest of the way to the TH. We parked west of the outcropping, which you follow to the TH, and walked about 2 miles. It was safer than a flat tire and wasn't wasted time, so don't worry.
