The road into parking has a suggestion for 4 x 4 vehicals, Dual wheel trucks are not allows. The road is very narrow and if your not paying attention you can easily drive off into the reviene to the left of the vechial. The road is a loop and one way around. The hike starts at a old General Store which is wire meshed off in the windows. It dates back to ther 1950's. Down the trail are limestone cliff overhangs with Native American writings. It is obvious there are some that think it's cute to carve their names into the limestone. The park has put a sign that says, "What will your children see?" The hot spring I beleive takes in river water from up stream and is solar heated. The river is a great place to cool off. The green color of the water might make you question if you want to go in, it's not be the cleanest river, but it's safe to swim. It was a joy switching from the spring to the river and back. We spent two hours in the water meeting people from...

Definitely a very highly recommended journey while at Big Bend! Be aware... it is a journey. Here's a few things to know!

#1. It is a very long and beautiful drive to get there. So take it easy and enjoy! #2. Some of the drive is on gravel/ rock roads. #3. Once you get to where you park... the is a bathroom with a door that closes where you can change. #4. It's a short hike to the springs! #5. It couple be busy at the springs so keep track of your items!

This was a really enjoyable experience... one of my favorites of the trip!

The hot springs are 100+ degrees and feels pretty crazy. The Rio Grande is around 72 degrees and had strong flow even with the low water levels. Where they meet is a wall where you can sit in the Rio Grande and have the hot springs trickle over your back and shoulders.

Super cool... go do it and keep...

Such a cool trail, one of the best places I have ever been and a great experience. Usually pretty empty but it was fun when there were random people there as well. Had some good conversations with some people who were visiting from different parts of the world. It is also nice the river is right there. We took a plunge on the other side then jumped back in the hot spring. The hot spring water is the perfect temperature to relax your muscles and feels so nice, the rice is ice cold so the contrast between the two is amazing. The road to get out to the spring parking area and trail head was pretty rough but I did see a Honda civic make it out there. So just be confident and cautious with your driving. Maybe about 1-3 miles was on dirt road but it is right off the paved road. This place is a must go on your trip...

The road leads to the hot spring is unpaved. The trail starts at the lower parking lot. Due to the road condition, I walked from the upper parking lot to the trailhead and it was dusty and a good 10 minute walk without shade. A good amount of history happened in hot spring and you may read the exhibit board along the way. The hot spring pool is small and mostly shallow. The pool bottom is sandy and the walls slippery as moss grows. The water temperature is hot but one can easily go into the river to cool down. To me, the fun part is to closely watch many tiny fish gathering by the pool to eat whatever they can find. I dipped in both the pool and the river a few times, really relaxing, especially after a hike or in need of a shower after camping for days. The view of the river bank is just beautiful. ❤️
