Battle Creek Waterworks — Attraction in Maplewood

They have an Autism friendly hour from 10 to 11am on Sundays... however I did not think the staff were very autism friendly! We were not allowed to go down the slides with them or even have another sibling go with! Very strict on only one person at a time! We also were not allowed to be at the bottom of the slide for when they got to the bottom. We were told not to put our feet over the water that shoots up in the shallowest part of the pool bc it blocks the water? Pretty much told not to do anything that a child with sensory needs and other special needs wants to do in water or needs extra help with! I was not impressed with their Autism friendly hour. My daughter and I were having a great time until we had to witness this females behavior towards other peoples children. There was a lifeguard on shift that was very inappropriate and appeared to be having a difficult time composing herself. She really should not be working around children. None of the other lifeguards had a problem projecting their voices professionaly when telling the kids to walk if they were running or whatever they were doing, but this female yelled at them with an extremly negative tone each and everytime, and was even name calling at times, quietly, she thought (yeh I heard you). Not worth the money. Paid $14 dollars for my wife and me to bring our baby to the wading pool for apparently ten minutes. They do post no refunds everywhere but as a first time customer I said not impressed. The lifeguards are very rude especially while busy guarding the empty wading pool. They told me it would be 30 minutes to clean the pool. 30 minutes later we are informed the wading pool is closed for the entire day. It seems strange since it is still nice and relatively sunny.
