We had wanted to stay here but all the park was booked up. So we stayed at Three Rivers state park and came here for the day. This is an older park built by the CCC. CG was added in 1965 and is small. CG is an open grassy loop, no shade or privacy. Sites are dirt and are perpendicular to the asphalt road which is narrow. The CG is several miles from the entrance. Looks nice, clean. There is supposed to be a swimming hole near the CG, we didn't go see it. There is a visitors center built from limestone blocks excavated from the cave. Actually here, the staff calls it "escavated." The lower part is a gift shop and upstairs is an interpretive center with exhibits and a video. We took the tour, I don't recommend it. It's not for tall people, hit my head 3 times. Not only did did the tour guide have a complete lack of understanding of grammar and enunciation, we learned that much of what she told us was wrong. After the tour we went to the interpretive center and read the displays which had information that contradicted that which was given to us on the tour. We also walked one of the trails after the tour. Had dinner in town at Jim's Buffet, that was a mistake. Yuk. I would not recommend more than a one...
Read moreJordan was a great tour guide! She made the tour very enjoyable and extremely educational. She interacted with the kids in the group during the tour in a kind and respectful manner. Even when the kids got a bit disruptive and loud she didn't get frustrated. Overall it was a great experience and I'd go again just to walk around on the tour. Lol and I'd probably request Jordan as the guide again! There's more to do than just the tour, (we didn't do anything else so I can't give those reviews) there are signs for kayak rentals and there are trails. But if it's a boiling day and you want to go on a cool little adventure, I'd recommend the Florida Caverns State Park. Side note: if you can't bend down from time to time or stand for about an hour, I wouldn't recommend it. There are parts of the cave where you have to crouch to get through and you will be standing/walking the...
