The trip to this magnificent structure is quite an adventure since you are driving to one of the highest mountains in the island of Puerto Rico. The area is also known as Monte del Estado o State Mountain. The road is in perfect conditions and the scenery is beautiful, you can see the southern side of the island and the Caribbean Sea. There are few joints where you can refresh yourself and have a drink. Once you reach the Torres de Piedra you will notice that it's a peaceful place, cool weather and plenty of birds around, not so much traffic. Once you go up the stairs you will have a magnificent view, from the Western shore to the southeast Coast is the island. Nice place......

If I had sandals, I wouldn't have gone in. The steps going up are narrow and a bit uncomfortable to go up. But once you're up there the view is wonderful. I think it was built in the 1940s, but unfortunately, I don't know anything else about the history...
