Place has potential. Found the place while looking for alternative attractions and entertainment but they don't really show their accommodations on the website. They are newer as I understand so still figuring things out. So first off their building was closed to the public. Sounded like they're still getting things up to code and or had an issue as it previously stood. They currently have porta potties set out for public use. They have a small bar set just outside their front door. Just enough room to serve two parties comfortably. They offer 6 wines, and 2 of those were also in the slushy machine. Mainly sweet local grapes like Niagaras. Additionally they had bottled water and some prepackaged small desert pies available. The winery's website did list they have food trucks but didn't provide a description or link to know what these provide. Not to mention the site asks not to bring your own food short of specific dietary needs. Hot dogs and bratwursts it was. They have a nice side patio filled with tables, Adirondack chairs and high tops. Then more chairs, picnic tables and a few canopies sprawled across their lawn with a large fire pit. A few customers, who I assume are return guests, brought their own folding chairs. And I did notice a cornhole set at the far end of the lawn. As we got their mid day the pit wasn't lit yet and it was overfilled with branches that still had lots of dead leaves. Knew that would make a mess so we set up a little distance away. As expected, once lit it kicked ash all over and we did end up having to move to a different table. But once that oversight was past they kept the fire well stocked. Plus we kinda benefited from everyone else clearing away from the pit as it opened up a few of the chairs. Both the owner of the food cart and the winery were very friendly. There was live music that set up at the end of the side porch too. The young man played guitar as he sang various country songs over a speaker. He was good, very polite when approached and we enjoyed his performance. If their was more to choose from as to food/beverages we might've stayed longer. There is a lake near by too that a few people walked over to. Not sure who's property it is on as it appears at least 3 residences boarder it. My wife and I said we'll have to check back in a year or two and see how...
Read moreNow that the dust has settled, I just wanted to pay tribute to Chris, Chef Timm and their team for kicking off and making Lauryn and Corey's wedding weekend an outstanding experience. It all started at the Lost Trail Winery for the Wedding rehearsal dinner. Chris Rohr provided a wonderful venue that exceeded everyone's expectations. Chris was so open and accommodating, we couldn't have been treated better and the wine was outstanding. Now for the best part, the dinner!! Chef Timm is the BEST. As he and Lori worked through the menu plans, he showed eminence excitement as if it was his own party and it kind of was in a way, showing off his talent. The menu was shrimp, chicken and tenderloin skewers each with their own rice and accompanied by the best sautéed vegetables I've ever had. The desert was key lime pie, carrot cake and chocolate cake....delicious. Chris and Timm, Lori and I thank you both dearly for making this event one for the record books. We are thankful for you both and the pleasure you brought to Lauryn and Corey's wedding...
Read moreI've been to a LOT of local wineries. And they're all nice and all the proprietors have been great people. We're very lucky in that respect.
But Lost Trail has really accomplished that little extra "something" that makes it worthy of a rare 5 star review. They're definitely created a setting, an ambiance, that places you in a specific place and time.
It's secluded enough... yet easily accessible from CAK, Rt 43, Canton, Hartville, Jackson, etc. It seems far out but isn't.
And of course there's the wine part. I don't have a sophisticated pallet so I'll leave those reviews to others. But I think it's tasty.
In short, you gotta' go. Treat yourself. You work hard, right? bring a chair, grab some...
