We had a great time at the fall festivities. The kids had a great time and everyone outside was absolutely wonderful. We’ve now been coming for 3+ years as a family, but I’ve been coming since I was a kid. Inside, the desserts and deli are wonderful! My husband enjoyed a craft cider while I got a Maize Valley soda and it was wonderful! The reason for the 3 stars, and honestly what kind of ruined our experience, was the service for the dining experience. There were signs everywhere that the service had now changed, which seemingly was no big deal to us as we’ve all worked food service (our friends, my husband, and myself) and I myself am a bartender. When we sit to order, the host explained most of it to us. The app to order is through Toast, which was not user friendly. I had to go through it multiple times to figure out how to order, how to find my tab, etc. We had to get our own water, had no contact with any “server” other than when they would drop food or alcoholic drinks off. Nothing was personable at all, the “servers” are just food runners technically. We had put up the “service requested” sign 3 times, two of which we ended up having to go get a server to help us after waiting 20+ minutes, the third time was for boxes in which my husband just got up and got them himself. Our food came out in roughly 30 minutes which isn’t horrible for a 6 top, except mine and my sons came out 25 minutes after the rest of the tables, and they forgot my sons side, which came out another 15 minutes after. So all together, the food was great, but the dining experience was awful and made us not want to come back to dine. For the price of everything, you’d think you could at least have a server pay attention to your table when it isn’t super busy on a Thursday night. I’ve loved Maize Valley for quite a while, and I hope this is just a temporary change, as it ruined the whole experience for us.
Again, we love Maize Valley and hope this is all temporary as we love the food, the ambiance,...
Read moreWhere shall I begin? The food is way over priced for the serving you’re getting. $30 for just a grilled cheese and salad? Wine $10 or more a glass… when you can buy a nice bottle for around $13 at grocery store that’s bubbly red wine! The activities you pay an extra $15 for is ridiculous because you still have to pay $3 for water or any kind of bottled drink. If you go to the pumpkin patch you’re being charged by the weight of the pumpkin… which a $1 a pound. Tried charge me $10 for a pumpkin when I bought two of the same size in Amish country for $3 each! Shouldn’t have to pay extra money once you go up to the corn maze for anything!!! It should be included!!! If you’re going to charge $15 then all activities should be included otherwise don’t charge to get into that section and then make people pay for stuff! I call this a tourist trap waist of money and time. I surely will not be back! If I want anything fun I’ll stick to something that’s not going to nickle and dime you to death!!! I’ve been to wineries like this but no where near as expensive as this place with hardly anything to it! A big Joke!! Water $3? Water at a gas station is cheaper and whole case of 32 bottles at Walmart is $5! Pop sure I can see that to extent but .50 extra compared to a gas 2.50 or a deal two for 4? Yeah your greedy here period!! @the owner… funny maybe I should show you my debt purchase because your full of crap! Don’t lie about your pumpkins because you are over charging a lot by the the lb cuz I I seen the scale and the girls told me it was $1 a lb!! I’m a happy person, but I don’t support businesses like yours who over charge people for a good time! I leave bad reviews for those who deserve it!!! I don’t give many positive reviews when the public should know about a business doing them wrongly! Sorry your little feelings were hurt! I call it as I see it! Places like this have gone down hill and that’s why...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about Maize Valley... The food is fantastic! No doubt about that, and the employees are very kind. However, overall, service and organization is an issue. I've been there twice now and each time I went, it was very unclear what I was supposed to do (and yes, I read the sign about how seating and ordering works). There's two lines where you can order from and several other people waiting in line were asking, "Does it matter which line we're in? I'm confused," and I felt the exact same way. Then another guest said, "Well, this line is typically for drinks and that line is for food, but I think you can order anything at both." Now everyone waiting was even more confused. If customers are guessing about what to do and are confused and giving out incorrect information, then obviously there needs to be more clear instructions and better signage. Also, the line was ridiculously long both times I went and then it also took way too long to receive our food. This most recent time, we waited in line for a while and then we decided that it wasn't worth it, so we were going to leave. We did want to purchase fudge though, so we waited at that counter for 5 minutes and not one employee looked our way once. Maybe the counter wasn't open, but there wasn't any signage. Was an employee supposed to be watching that counter? We got really frustrated after wasting 20 minutes inside Maize Valley and another 40 minutes driving (20 minutes to Maize Valley, then 20 minutes home). What a waste of time. I think more organization is needed within the employees so everyone has a clearer idea of what they should be doing, because even the employees look confused as they're frantically running around. Also, better organization, better signage, and better directions may help to...
