What a beautiful, immaculate hot shop! It was my first time working in one rather than just watching. I like the process well enough to have watched glass blowers work both in the US and in other parts of the world. I have never seen a studio that well organized, efficient and clean enough to eat off the floor, lol. Nothing against the massive Simon Pearce shops of the world, but this place is a boutique: a sunny, happy environment that endeavors to make glass blowing accessible while recognizing and contributing to the artistry. The staff were friendly and approachable with amazing expertise and a true love of their art. They made sure I stayed safe and instructed me clearly and well. I was so engaged that I forgot to take any photos, but I sure wish I had! There were a couple of cool dogs that were far more at home in the shop than I was and were happy as hell to be there. Clearly, a nurturing environment for both man and beast. What a fantastic way to spend some time and learn a new set of skills! Highly, highly recommend. I wish nothing but great success and longevity to...
Read moreWow, what a great place to visit! My one daughter summed it up when we left and she said “this place has a really nice vibe!” I loved it; we were pretty exhausted after all of our traveling but I still wanted to do something out of the ordinary that my kids would remember from our visit to Marlborough and this fit the bill-we walked in and saw such a lovely display of color and glass, some bright cheerfulness in a drab seasonal transition. We were greeted by some four legged friends and their humans, what fun! The kids each chose their colors for the ornaments they were about to create. Gentle and expert guidance helped them each create colorful ornaments that were one of a kind. Our questions were answered and it was really enjoyable. The art center was really easy to work with, scheduling from far away and last minute; our ornaments were ready the next day - if you have the time to stop by and create something truly unique, it’s a great activity to spend doing whether you are passing through or live in the...
Read moreWas looking for something different to do on a cold winter day. Found Hot Glass Art Center in a google search and sent them an email at 6:00 this morning to see if they had any availability today as we were taking a road trip out that way. Got a reply that if We could be there around noon that they could accommodate us. Met Jordana and Joey they showed us around and asked what we wanted to do. They explained the process and set us up to make some glasses. Both are remarkably talented crafters and helped us make some awesome tumblers. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere! I would highly recommend a trip to visit whether just shopping for a piece from their gallery or making your own! Outstanding place to visit! Thank you both for an...
