What a great hike. Roughly 60 minutes, maybe 🤔 2ish miles. Couple steeper hills and or rock steps and roots. Need to be able to maintain your breathing as some parts require climbing and stepping over obstacles. Mostly because your climbing a mountain ...right. 😄 good wore trail most the way. Always a few cut throughs but main route is preferable of ease. So I say intermediate level for sure. Great hike though and very much worth the views. Been up there a few times over the years. Always a must for me when the chance arises. Great family outing. It is more popular these days so often enough their will be others along the trail. Which was beneficial for the one couple we ran into that were kinda going the wrong direction . They asked for help and I pointed them in the right direction as I headed up the same way. With a dog they made it as well.

Awesome trail. Not for out of shape people. There are other easier trails nearby also. Be sure to have your phone GPS on as the trail marking is a little unclear. Also you need to pay for a recreation pass, either a day for $9 or annual for $17 resident / $34 for out of state resident.

Beautiful view, very last part of the trail has a high slope. Hiked this in the winter. The trail is traveled by hikers and bikers so unless it just snowed a lot snowshoes aren't needed. Yak tracks or something of that nature are needed or very helpful for the last part.

Hands down this is the best hike I've been on in Marquette. The trail is a little bit tricky to find, I had the help of google maps and a self-proclaimed expert of the area, but it is well worth the search! The hike is definitely more difficult than Sugarloaf which should be taken into consideration if you're looking for all-ages-friendly hikes. The trail itself has gradual slopes winding its way to the base of the mountain and is fairly rocky, and has swampy sections where there are logs and rocks pushed into the mud to make passage a little easier, but be warned you're still going to get a little muddied up! The closer to the base of the mountain the steeper the trail will be and the last stretch is definitely more climbing than hiking as you break out of the tree line but it leads you to a stunning almost 360 view of Marquette and the surrounding area. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area, especially if they are looking for the best views, and a hearty hike that will not take up their entire day (took us about 2 hours at a...
