Camden State Park – A Must-Visit Minnesota State Park! Camden State Park is an absolutely awesome place to explore, relax, and unwind. Nestled in the scenic hills of southwestern Minnesota, this park offers a wide range of hiking opportunities on well-maintained trails that wind through wooded valleys and along ridgelines. Some paths are hilly, rewarding you with beautiful views that make the effort worthwhile. The park also features a refreshing swimming beach and a serene stream—perfect for soaking your feet or wading on a warm day. Whether you're looking to hike, swim, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings, Camden delivers. The campgrounds here are truly outstanding—quiet, clean, and well cared for. Whether you're tent camping, traveling in a big RV, or enjoying the practicality of a Mini-T Campervan, it's a great place to stay the night. Camden State Park is everything you’d want in a Minnesota State Park: scenic, peaceful, and full of things to do. It’s the perfect destination for nature lovers, campers, and anyone looking to recharge outdoors.

We had never visited Camden and were surprised by the topography (hilly with some nice, challenging hills) and the extensive trail system for a park this size. Had some nice November hikes with a beautiful and somewhat eerie "Blair Witch" aesthetic. The swimming pond looks like it would be great fun in the summer - my preteen and teen asked to come back with friends. Stayed at the Redwood Lodge - it was pretty expensive for just the three of us (especially considering you have to bring your own linens and clean the place thoroughly at checkout) - but it was very comfortable and cozy for a November visit. Would be a better value if you filled it up with all 8 people it can sleep. Be aware the dining table only seats 6 and there is only "couch space" for 5. Kitchen was well stocked for very basic meals but if you like to cook more elaborate meals, plan to bring some extra mixing bowls, utensils, etc. All in all, a lovely place to stay and I would recommend if it's in your budget.

This place is beautiful! The kids could spend all day near the spring fed swimming pond. It is cold! But, feels great on a hot day. We enjoyed walking along the stream, walking the hiking paths, playing in and near the pond, and just enjoying the view and beauty of nature. We camped in the upper campground and intended to use our bikes to get around but found that not very convenient if staying in the upper campground. Too far, gravel roads, and a very steep descent into the valley. The upper campground was more private and quiet. Bathrooms/showers were nice. I will most likely try to snag a spot in the lower area if with the kids again. Easy walk to playground, trails and swim pond from there. We stayed 2 nights and wished we had one more day to explore. Will definitely come back.

The nature around is another great reason just go out look apon the whole area! We haven't don't the hiking trails yet. We checked the swim area out, it's small area and say up nice with great playground near it! One thing fishing though... We had 2 lines snipped... Someone leaking around under the water disagreed with us fishing haha... The first our son tried rail.... Was fine to point something pulled and then was fine again and then again a pull and we'll a missing bobber and some line and a weight had ran off... His and had same incident .... Except it let go 3 times and last time he had it closer to the dock but... Then he lost what he was fishing with.... That's what the middle gave us after casting well out. At the side of the dock watching them as you fish is a treasure of its own .. so much beauty! That's only a portion...
