French Broad Adventures — Attraction in Marshall

Went with French Broad adventures rafting, canyoneering, and zip lining and had an absolute blast!

Went with "big" John rafting who happily obliged our group when we asked for him to take any opportunity for more adventure and splashing! Great conversation, great entertainment, and great memories! Would absolutely recommend!

Canyoneering we went with Collin and Ally (sorry for any misspelling). What we didn't know going in was that there would be a 1.5 hour drive each way and since we were advised to leave our phones in our personal vehicle it got quite boring, I also get horrifically motion sick and had I known we'd be driving that long I could have prepared for that but alas did not and had to just hold onto the nausea the whole way (but to be fair we were a bit late to arrival and it may have been covered before we got there, but frankly 3 total hours of driving included in the trip should really be mentioned online). That said, our guides were awesome! Lots of great info, fun chats, clearly experienced and we had a great time with the rappelling, hiking and slide rock! I had a great time outside the drive, but I wouldn't personally recommend this trip unless one rappel down a waterfall is crazy appealing to you, I'd personally call this one not fully worth the price (though I'm confident the price is necessary since they can really only run one trip a day, but oh well).

Zip lining we went with Naomi and Vivian and they were an absolute blast! Total time with our group of four was roughly an hour and a half. They kept the atmosphere fun and chatty, if you enjoy zips, I would absolutely recommend it.

My family and I did white water rafting. What a fun time! I can't say enough great things about this company. While we waited we looked around the gift shop which had cute shirts, sweatshirts, hats, coozies, snacks, drinks, ice cream, etc. There were tables outside to enjoy the views while waiting and to listen to the safety meeting prior to departing. I felt well prepared and in good hands. There is a short bus ride to get to the river and the trip lead was funny, full of jokes. Our guide was Losty and she was absolutely wonderful! We were in great hands. The river was beautiful and the cool water felt great. There was the perfect amount of rapids and then parts of calm to enjoy the views and relax. There was a spot where we stopped and we could jump off a rock in the water for a swim. We stopped another time for a snack and a drink of water or lemonade. All in all it was the perfect day and our family can't wait to do it again. I would recommend French Broad Adventures for white water rafting to anyone and everyone!

The next day we did the zip lining with guides Olivia and Avani. I was a little nervous as it was my first time. Our guides were great at alleviating my fears and I loved zip lining! The guides were both funny and they kept us entertained as we went through the course. We really enjoyed our trip through the trees. I would recommend this course to anyone who has never zip lined before. I have spoken to others that have zip lined and this course has a great braking system that seems easier than other courses that I've heard of. It was a lot of fun!

The most fun I think I've ever had in my life!!

This was my first time ever going white water rafting. My only regret is not doing this sooner! I am so hooked! Now I want to build vacations around different white water rafting destinations.

Matt was our guide. Matt was amazing from start to finish with our trip! He is very knowledgeable and knows so many interesting facts. You can tell he really loves what he does and wants to make sure that everyone has a memorable experience. Your safety is his number one priority. He knows every nook and cranny in the river which amazed me. Matt definitely made this already amazingly, beautiful experience that much better! Excellent, excellent job Matt! We chose to do the full trip which included the class 4's. I am so glad we chose the full day since the half day trip doesn't go through the class 4's. Half day would be for families that have little ones under 8 years old. The views along the river are breath taking. We got lucky that there weren't many boats out, so we basically had the river to ourselves. If you want an experience that you'll always remember definitely choose French Broad and it's amazing staff to be the ones to take you white water rafting. There are many places to choose from and they'll show you the river but it's the staff here and our guide Matt being so friendly and knowledgeable that really made the experience one that I'll always remember.
