Grimes Farm and Conservation Center — Attraction in Marshalltown

Grimes park is a perfect place for friends, family gatherings and/or solo trips. You are provided with walking trails, biking trails, unique parks which offer recycled materials to create a fun attraction for your youngesters.

Please be mindful that sometimes you'll run into people that have bigger dogs, so don't go running to touch them. Unless the owners tell you can or should not to touch them. Children should stay close their families obviously, I feel like this is more of a safty awareness as some walking paths do lead to moving traffic.

In August 2025, we visited the Grimes Farm and Conservation Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. This is a great place to enjoy ourdoor activities, like playgrounds, a pavillion with barbecue grills, bridges and boardwalks, and nature trails. Be prepared for the abundant mosquitoes with insect repellent and/or additional clothing. We enjoyed walking on the trails, boardwalks, and bridges. This is the gem of the Marshall County park system. They have a marvelous naturescape play area for the kids.

The park includes an observation tower located on the second highest point on the county. There are very well kept nature trails including a board walk with an observation blind. Grimes Farm is also connected to the main multi-use recreational trail in the area.
