This venue was perfect for our October wedding reception - the building itself has a spacious, versatile layout, which allowed us a great deal of freedom when planning seating, dancing, and catering areas. We found a table layout that worked perfectly for us, and with only about 25 guests, the space was the perfect size - large enough for people to get space, but still cozy and intimate enough to make the space feel lively.
One of my favorite features were the two large garage doors, which open up to a concrete patio, where we were provided propane fire-places that were set up by the venue staff. This brought a wonderful blend of indoor-outdoor interaction, allowing the calm country air and upbeat indoor area to merge seamlessly.
The venue staff were always nearby, ready to help and answer any questions - Jackie and Whitney were very polite and attentive! While we brought most of our own decor, they had a supply room filled with various essentials for a wedding reception.
The Upland is located the optimal distance from the nearby city of Springfield, allowing some of our family who flew in from Florida to find nearby hotels either in Springfield itself, or Marshfield, which is just a bit closer. At the same time, it is far enough away from these cities to allow for a serene and undisturbed environment surrounded by pastures and prairie.
The kitchen - while not spacious - includes the essentials for preparing food which has been cooked ahead of time. The sound system included the ability to connect our phones via Bluetooth or Aux, and came with two microphones that were easy to operate. All of the amenities suited our needs perfectly!
