Built around 1699 for Isaac Winslow, grandson of Mayflower passenger Edward Winslow, the Historic Winslow House in Marshfield is one of New England’s best-preserved colonial homes. The site was once the center of the Winslow family estate—land granted to Edward Winslow in the 1630s as part of the early Plymouth Colony settlement.

The two-and-a-half-story timber-frame house reflects late-17th-century craftsmanship, with original fireplaces, wide floorboards, and carefully restored interiors. It served as a hub for generations of Winslows who helped shape both local government and trade in early Massachusetts.

Today, the Winslow House functions as a museum open seasonally for tours and programs. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it remains a tangible link to the first century of English life in...

Do not bother unless you happen to be in immediate area. We checked the website hours, drove up from Cape Cod and found the place closed. We waited around for 30 minutes, peeked in windows and left. It is very annoying that these people cannot even be bothered to update the website. It was obvious that some major renovation was under way, and had been for quite some time. Sad that a group that seemingly cares about history and the material culture of America would be so indifferent to potential visitors. The house looked like it has some truly wonderful artifacts. Too few people today are truly interested in our past. The laxity shown by the museum in not bothering to update its website does nothing to encourage people to visit and...

This is a great historical tour of the former goveners house and the lifestyle his family lived. Public visits events are far and few between so any visit should be planned. The property is available to rent for functions as weddings and corporate events. The house has many artifacts from the family and some believed to be from the family or at least period. Overall the tour was quite informative and I would absolutely take my family there again. We home school our children so this was a great addition to...

Had a great evening ghosting hunting at the Winslow House in Marshfield with @Hometown Ghost Stories There was a lot of spirit box activity and some music box and Rempod activity. Sharing some clips that I finally got the chance to go through. Pretty awesome stuff!#paranormal #ghosts #ghosthunting #ghosthunter #spooky

Sadly, the handful of historic houses in this area are not generally open. You have to come for an event or one of the few days a year that they have tours. Tomorrow is an event! I hope people stop by and support these places! This is American history. You can stop by and see descendants from the Mayflower and where they are buried just up the road. The old school house is just across a street too! Plenty of parking. Mostly level so decently accessible. The gardens and grass are lovely and there are benches too.
