The view from The Pinnacle is amazing! The Susquehanna River is below & you can see for miles! There are trails off to the right when heading to the fenced overlook. Those trails lead to rocky overlooks for awesome photos!
And the Conestoga Trail passes by (orange blazes). Follow this trail to find: forested hillsides covered in ferns, paw paw trees, & other native plants; and a trickling stream w/ a nearby, amazingly huge, rock outcrop in the forest! The trail is made up of steep rocky declines going out & the same steep, rocky paths as inclines on the way back, so be prepared! The trail does level off when it almost reaches the railroad tracks below --the river is beyond that. I wish the trail would be down by the river, and maybe it does reach it at some point, but we turned around when we got to a 10ft long muddy section w/ no rocks to use as stepping stones. Enjoyable workout! Lovely...
Read moreOne of the best overlook of Susquehanna river. Amazing overlook , easily accessible , very clean , well maintained, limited parking spots with one handicap parking. Wheel chair can be taken near to the picnic area (you have a view) but the parking spot itself is gravel. Mobile restroom are available on spot , more than couple of picnic tables , grill stand , couple of benches to overlook. There is a small trash can near checkpost/ parking. Trash bin for charcoal disposal . If you have kids then take precautions there is no guard rail in the view point even for adult it is bit not safe. Drive to the area itself is very scenic. No nearby store so not that easy if you forget stuff for your day out. Weekends easily get crowded and might be tough to get parking spots. Well worth...
Read moreAmazing spot. If you hike down to the left you will go up into Kelly's Run. Absolutely beautiful up in there. If you take the trail to the right of the overlook it will take you down to the railroad tracks /river and then up into Tucquan Glen. Both of these routes are awesome. Even in the winter like I have done them. Can't wait to go back in the summer. Be warned the grades are STEEP in places and there are stream crossings and rocks and boulders to traverse. Trekking poles are a big help. I'm down on the eastern shore of Maryland and drive an hour and 40 minutes up here because it's such...
