I study at the library at least 3 days/week for 8-10 hours/day. I used to use the study rooms, but you unfortunately only get 1 hour guaranteed, and there is almost always someone waiting in line to use them. Now I use the quiet room, a large room with several tables and no limit on how long you can stay. I do love that I have the option to use one or the other, or I can also sit at a table in any common area throughout the library.
One thing about this library is that it is squeaky clean! I've only noticed one man cleaning, but he never stops and deserves a shoutout :) He is constantly emptying trash, dusting ledges, picking up trash outside, and cleaning the bathrooms. He always greets me with a smile when he unlocks the doors at 0900, and is almost always still hard at work by the time I leave in the evening. He should be incredibly proud of his hard work... It is definitely noticed and appreciated.
My only complaint is that the noise level dramatically increases in the afternoon when school dismisses. Lots of kids come here to study, hang out, or wait for their rides, and I think it's great they have a safe place to stay. However, these kids are NOISY!!! The study rooms, which butt up against the quiet room, are so loud. Laughing. Yelling. Banging on the walls. I don't mind some noise... but it's a lot! The common area outside the quiet room is the same. Again, I don't mind a little noise. I do wish the EXCESS noise would be addressed, though.
Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this library to any studiers! I don't use the actual book section, but I've browsed the shelves on my breaks, and it looks like they have a great selection. The children's library looks...
Read moreThe remodel is so lame. It used to have a lovely atrium garden area along the entirety of one wall that gave pleasant, natural lighting, along with chess sets, mid-century furniture and fittings and details throughout. Someone obviously put a lot of thought into the original construction, and it was a very pleasant place to sit and read or study. The new version has a harsh, extremely generic, corporate environment feel with cheap furnishings they probably bought off of amazon. It feels like you could be in any insurance or dmv office anywhere. I can't believe they actually spent money to ruin what was a perfectly good structure. Also much less emphasis on books. If libraries had been like this when I was a kid, I probably would have spent a lot less...
Read moreI will never come here to do any quiet work ever again. This branch is right across the street from Parkway North High School. I was cool working until the students got out of school. Some of the students were talking loudly, cussing, and teasing another student around their age for almost 20 minutes. I ended up moving to a different part of the library so that I could focus. Then, when I was trying to leave the parking lot, not one but two cars almost hit me as I was attempting to back out of a parking spot. I only came here because I had an appointment close by, and it was convenient for me to do some school work before I had to go to...
