This is a great historical farm and hiking area that focuses not only on the community and education of history, plants, soil, animals; but also has great water views and fairy trails! Fun all around and dog and kid friendly. For those who do not like to/can not walk far, part of the path is wheelchair/stroller friendly and there is plenty of seating in the picnic area.

A great place to learn about Native American culture and American history. Great views of the Potomac River from the fishing pier and historic farm/living buildings. Visitor center was very nice and there were many short hikes through the historic buildings and the river.

The Accokeek Foundation is fantastic! They hold wonderful events like Lattes with Lambs and Winter's Eve. There's plenty to do and see here both for history buffs and nature fanatics.

I may be a little bias living within walking distance to AF, but it truly is a great place to visit for its environmental education events, colonial reenactments, forest food festival and more. My personal favorite is Lattes with Lambs! I believe AF is also available to rent out space for private events. AF boats one of the best views of the river and Mount Vernon. Be the pioneer of all your friends and visit AF inside the first national park of its kind in the country --...

Absolutely a must do for kids. The animals are widely available and while there aren't tons it gives the kiddos a gun afternoon of watching the cows eat and moo, the pigs run around and the sheep/goats wandering about. When the staff is out and about they always take time to talk to the kids and answer questions. Wide paths make it easy to navigate if you are out with...
