Went to Wine in the Woods where this winery participated. Waited in one of the 7 or so lines for about 15 minutes, only to be told by the group in front of mine that the person serving them just left without a saying word and they were currently being ignored by the staff.
They barely managed to get one of the staff members to pour them some of the wines - an older woman with attitude who was serving one line. They left. We moved up.
Both the gentleman who was serving at least three lines already and the older woman who was serving one, ignored us. I got the gentleman's attention who said he couldn't help (which was understandable, he was working an entire side of their tent by himself!) He told us it was up to the woman. She of course ignored us, and when we asked her, she again claimed that the line of people was not a line. The group that she was serving even vouched for our line asking her how could the line of people who were being served up till 5 minutes ago, not be a line? She had no comment but was angry that people were were pointing out the absurdity of the situation. She again, reluctantly poured our group two wines without a word and then kept on ignoring us while the people in the other line kept supported our line. We ended up leaving.
It should also be mentioned that there were two women on our side of the tent working one line each. Again, the gentleman was working 3.
There was one staff member at the register, one eating (lunch), and another older guy pretending to be busy by walking around the boxes of wine. It was clear he had nothing to do and was trying to look busy.
No one wanted to rectify the situation. The strategy was to ignore, be rude and try to avoid eye contact with everyone in our line. Meanwhile our line was still growing. We informed as many people as we could to get in another line as we left.
There's no way I'd support a company that can't even take the initiative to apologize for the confusion, can't use words to explain that they need to (presumably) take a break to the group that was waiting to be served before disappearing, or figure out what to do with a bunch of people unaware that they were waiting in a line going nowhere.
My suggestion - if festivals aren't your thing, then don't...
Read moreDon’t let the size fool you!! We read great reviews of this petite boutique winery. It was our anniversary so we decided to try it after reading the reviews even though we read parking was VERY limited. We were definitely not disappointed!!! The lady that helped us was so very sweet & knowledgeable. The selection was mind blowing…if judging by the size and our initial reaction when we pulled into the driveway that appeared to be a personal residence. :-) Thankfully, we spotted the wine barrels which helped us confirm we were in the right spot! This little gem is a diamond in the making…great staff, owners & WINES!! We left with FIVE bottles (they make great gifts) & I had to enjoy the delicious grown up slushy! (Happy Anniversary to Meeee…wow was that delicious!) I’m looking forward to taking friends & family back to experience this little treasure! I absolutely love supporting local business and when they are this enjoyable it’s a difficult choice with such limited parking & seating…Hmmmm, do I want to spread the word or keep this jewel to myself! Haha Ok,ok…I’ll do the right thing and help spread the word!! It’s a must visit & if you are lucky enough to do a tasting I can almost guarantee you will find something with their diverse varieties of wine….you will definitely want to buy at least one !!! Don’t forget the slushy either!!...
Read moreWe've been travelling around the DMV area to different wineries for the past several months, and this is by far the strangest place we've encountered. We're not exactly sure how it ended up on a wine trail with several other legitimate wineries, which it is definitely not. I get it. You have a passion for winemaking, but at least warn me before I pull up in front of someone's house and find out you don't even grow your own grapes. The customer service and wine, which was mediocre at best, also left quite a bit to be desired. If I wanted to drink in someone's garage, I'd go home to my parents' house in Illinois (and I'd probably have a...
