Deal Island State Wildlife Management Area — Attraction in Maryland

I drove almost four hours to get to the island for some wildlife photography, and guess what?! All three gates were closed! I'm so disappointed. The weather was great, and there was no sign of flooding, so I really don’t understand why all entrances to the main part of the island were closed. There was nothing about that in the website's information section! It seems like a nice place for bird watching and wildlife photography, but it was definitely a waste of time for me. Went swimming🌊💦 and it was so nice and clean... Great for little ones.. the water is a lot more calm compared to the ocean and not as deep.. we went out probably 100 or more feet and was only 4 1/2 , 5 feet deep.. every nice... No beach house but they have a out house which was clean...
