Very well kept park, clean facilities, wonderful for dogs that love to socialize and swim. There are several areas with great view of open water. Offers lots of trails for walking or biking, huge playground for kids and a fishing pier. It's really quiet early in the day, gets crowded on weekends by 11am. Mother's Garden offers Zen type of vibe with some areas tucked away from the crowd. Would have given 5 stars but when my family went to this park 2 weekends in a row, we saw the same cigarette butts near the same spot we set our blankets and picnic stuff the weekend before, plus there were a lot of grassy areas with dog poop. Not blaming the park services for that, dog owners must be responsible for the clean up of their own pets. Other than that we love this park & will be coming back...
   Read moreYou can't go wrong at Downs Park on a beautiful October morning with bright sunshine. As we first entered the parking lot appeared crowded but luckily the playground was not. A short bike ride followed to the fishing pier and then back to the formal garden to see butterflies. We had a snack on the wishing bench and then visited the resident hawk and turkey vulture. A very full morning.
