Tldr: community atmosphere with playgrounds, sports fields, paved walking paths, dog parks, and hiking trails. Great parking. Public bathrooms, water fountains, and dog water fountains.
Parking-The parking lot is big and I have never had to try to look for a spot. Lots of open lot especially the farther away you go. There is handicap parking right near the entrance to the paced walkway and tennis courts. No one on this lot is particularly aggressive since there is so much space, but watch for wandering kids.
Paved path- this path is about a .7mile look according to my fitbit. The loop is pretty easy with a gradual incline. There are arrows along the walkway to guide you. This path does go onto the sidewalk and the road there can be busy so for people walking their anxious dogs: you might want to walk on the grass. Plenty of room to walk, jog, and some even bike here!
Fields- there are two fields, one main one and one over a footbridge. The main field hosts practices pretty frequently for lacrosse. The other field is usually unused. There are risers on the sides and plently of room along the sides to sit. There is also a baseball diamond where you can frequently see families with their kids learning to hit a ball or playing kickball.
Courts- there is very nice courts where you will frequently see a senior group playing pickle ball or teens playing pickup basketball. I have no idea how to get nets or who to go through since I don't really use them, but there is an admin type building right behind so you might just need to ask if it's not on a website somewhere.
Trails- the trails can be entered at the bottom of the paved loop. The trails are very nice but could be better labeled. The red trail is about a 1.5 mile loop with lots of things to look at. I suggest following the sign that says "big rock" lots of good views. There are benches along the path and lots of scenic stops. This path can be quite steep at points but nothing that requires more than nice walking shoes and a water bottle. People frequently jog the trails and some even ride their bikes. The trail is very shady and relaxing, but quite woody so make sure to get some bug spray as we move into tick season. I personally love these trails, and I bring my friends who are new to hiking/nature walks here since it's a great beginner trail.
Playgrounds- there are two playgrounds that are usually pretty busy with little kids running around. Lots of benches and shaded areas along the side for parents to sit and watch their kids.
Community areas- there are two main covered pavilions great for team meetings, picnics, or outdoor parties. Lots of picnic tables underneath so it's great for eating in a shaded area. There is usually one or two tables taken by people eating lunch or working but it's usually pretty empty. There are also lots of hills that face a little water area and the sports field where you can frequently see people sitting on blankets or playing with their dogs. Sometimes the Kona snowball truck is there on weekday evenings and you can get a nice refreshing treat while you enjoy the honeygo atmosphere.
Dog park- this is a very dog friendly area. Lots of people walking their dogs or letting their dogs play in the dog park. It's sectioned off for big dogs and little dogs and lots of trashcans to put the poo in. Your dog will make lots of friends at honey go and everyone will want...
Read moreThe park itself is quite nice. The people who go here are another story. I've had one stranger expose himself to me on one of the hiking trails, while another called me a *ing c when he thought I couldn't hear him, and so many people have so little grasp of social distancing that I've had to stop going there for the time being. The sports parents and coaches are no treat either, and the way some of the Baltimore Union coaches in particular yell at the kids borders on child abuse. But the absolute worst parkgoers are the people who rent out the pavilions for parties and barbecues over the summer. They crank up their PAs so loudly that they can be heard in the woods, set up lawn chairs in the middle of the paved trail so people have to walk or bike on the grass, grill food in unsafe places and manners, bring environmentally irresponsible items like balloons, and leave a huge mess for everyone to dodge until the park staff finally cleans it up. Most of the county parks are the same way, and I really wish the parks and rec department would rein in partygoers' practices just a bit so others could enjoy themselves...
Read moreSince I moved to the areal 4years ago, I thoroughly enjoy this park. We use to visit weekly to host a flag football game however now we frequent the park for our children athletic events.
The bathrooms are always clean and accessible. The playground is normally packed but it's fun and I don't feel like it's overbearing for my children to enjoy themselves.
There is plenty of parking and so many areas to utilize.
The Pavillion is a pretty decent size and there are tons of trashcans around. This park is pet friendly and thus far, the people have been welcoming.
1 strong suggestion, do not leave your belongings in plain site inside of your vehicle. Just like any other park, you have to do your part to avoid car break ins as it happens everywhere.
I highly...
