Every year I bring my family to a different pumpkin patch and corn maze. We got there and a car was stuck in the deep mud in the parking lot. My family had to trudge through the mud to even get there. Once we were there, there were no signs indicating where you would need to go to do anything. After walking around we finally found where to buy tickets. Once tickets were purchased we then had to wait in a long line to take a tractor pulled ride to another area where the pumpkin patch and corn maze are. The treacherous ride on the tractor was probably the highlight of the whole trip. It was quite beautiful. I was pulled back and forth between being in awe of the beauty of the property and having moments of fear that we were going to get stuck in the deep mud and clutching my children to keep them from flying out. At one point I thought the trailer might actually tip on its side and a young girl flew forward and hit the floor. We finally got to the corn maze. Again, no direction as to where to go for the corn maze. No workers to direct anyone, they just drop you off and leave. We then went into the corn maze once we figured out where to go. It was hardly a maze. There were no markers, no clues, no challenge and no people even! It was just 1 clearly cut path that was very obvious which way a person was supposed to go, with small side paths detouring off of the main path only a few feet here and there. The whole trip came to a head when me, my husband and my 3 year old got buried in the almost completely impassable mud pit of a corn maze. It was at that time we decided we needed to just turn around and get out. Once out I asked my husband if he wanted to go pick a pumpkin in the patch and he said absolutely not, we needed to get into line to wait the long wait for a tractor ride back. Even when the tractor comes back you aren't even guaranteed a ride as some people take the ride just to go around and don't wish to get off at the patch or corn maze. Thank God we got a spot on the first tractor that came. I felt terrible for the people behind us that had already been waiting a long time and didn't get the ride. I can only imagine the meltdown that would have ensued if my 3 year old had to wait there any longer with his soaking wet socks, shoes and pants. I understand that rain happens and mud happens. But i feel that we could have been warned. I feel a whole lot could have been done to make this a much more family friendly experience. I'm sure the place is at times perfectly fine but I will not be bringing my family back...
Read moreWas here with my little fam last weekend. I was super excited to visit. When we arrived there was a band playing and we immediately purchased some food at the food truck. When it came time to pick apples, we were lost. Didn’t know where to get a bag or where to go. We just picked some and held onto them. There’s no signs or directions anywhere. We walked… and walked… and walked… and never found a pumpkin patch. We even asked a worker and he didn’t seem to know and didn’t really give helpful directions. My son enjoyed jumping on the inflated balloon. There was a tractor ride going around the grounds but you need to purchase tokens in order to do all the things. As we were leaving, we saw a sign at the front of the building that explained the apple picking procedure, which isn’t ideal because the driveway to the orchard/food truck is before the entrance to this building. They should really have a sign explaining where to go and how the operation works. Not just one small sign that isn’t even at the entrance. Overall we had fun, took pictures, saw some goats. The gift shop is nice, cute things to buy, bunches of apples and some frozen apple crisp (I’m very excited to try it!). Overall, it’s a nice little place to visit with your family, I just wish we knew from the getgo where to go and how...
Read moreWe had an absolutely wonderful day at Deer lake Orchard with our family. My grandkids loved the train ride, hay ride, apple shooter, bounce pad, watching sheep being sheered, chasing the chickens , jumping on the hay bails and eating the many treats and enjoying the busy atmosphere by a fire listening to live music ( people were dancing- how fun is that!). Shopping was delightful with a big selection of things. I bought pillow, bowls, pottery, baby toys and a wonderful candle and of course apples! The family has created a surprise around every corner as you are allowed to walk around the big property. The orchard experience was so well planned. We topped off the day with the delicious warm apple crisp - perfect end to a perfect family day. We’ll be...
