What an awesome place!! It's about a half mile hike off the loop where you'll park. It is worth the walk!

You'll see the modern barn on your right as you're heading back on the trail. Then you'll come to the home, barn, meat house, corn crib, and springhouse. The springhouse where they kept the milk and butter is fascinating!

Enjoy the property and all the wonders of their construction and way of life.

The guide book ($1 at the information station at the beginning of the loop) explains the history...get the guide book!

Cades Cove is a favorite and a must see if you like nature or history. We were there on a Sunday and only saw half the loop. Traffic was heavy on the one way loop. Take lots of water and use the restroom before you start, as there is only a restroom at building 11, the historic mill. The water fountain there was broken. We saw 5 black bears and several turkeys during our...

This was a very nice short walk to stretch the legs. The surrounding hills and trees were beautiful and the cabin has been maintained in historical condition and is open for entrance. Looking at this time capsule invokes an appreciation for how life was in the not so...

This is worth the long walk (about 1/2 mile) to see this old homestead with a beautiful cabin and some outdoor buildings like smokehouses and the very intriguing little spring house where they cleverly set up a running water trough.

Really cool place out in the woods. If I remember correctly, it's a half-mile walk each way. It's a pretty easy walk and really beautiful. There's a huge barn on the way too. Really nice area!
