This part is awesome. My 2.5 year old was old enough to do about 60% of the structure with supervision (it is advised for 5-12 I think the sign says). For parents or whoever with older kiddos, the whole thing has a like 4' fence around it with one entrance and exit. The fence is jumpable for olders but it'll give you a sense of containment. This is a park maintained by members of the community and built with donation, I believe. It has creatively inspiring local art pieces, tile installations and a little amphitheater area within it. The ground fill is chopped recycled rubber bits, not sand, and the wood is manufactured composite making it smooth and splinter free for bare feet. Bring a picnic (there are covered tables or eat in your car) but be careful, the wind gets wild. Like crazy wild. Prepare for passing showers to come through. Pick up your trash and take care of this place ya, there aren't any trash cans right at the playground but there are some further into the park. Interesting History wall and Dedication to the name of the park after Maui's very own World War 2, 4th Marine Division Park, where they used to be located and stationed.

Read moreUnfortunately this playground has fallen into disrepair over the last year, and some of the issues can be dangerous for children. Screws above the surface, planks missing from platforms, broken slides, etc. This has been, and could be again, a great playground for the area, but as it is now we won't be returning.
I know it's a community maintained playground, but hopefully someone can take control soon who will be able to get the much needed...
